Lucy updater under Windows 7 64bitFollow

Hello folks,

I have been trying to get lucy updater working under Windows 7 64bit for quite some time now but no success :(.

I have downloaded the latest WinPcap version (4.1.1) and installed it successfully. When I start the itemcol.exe though it starts and shows 3 bars and then stops with the message "An error occured while updating, please try again later". I have tried it with and without administrattive rights, in compatibility mode (tried WinXP SP3, Vista) it always reacts ion the same way.

Has anyone at all managed to get Lucy updater running under Windows 7 64bit and if so, can you advise me what to do?

Thanks for any help :)

Sounds like you have a firewall or other IP protection stopping it from accessing the web. Check your firewall settings, and Anti-Virus or IP protection software running.

A common source of this problem is Windows built-in protection which doesn't always come to the front, so you may want to look at your taskbar when you first start it and see if a minimized window comes up to tell Windows to allow this program access to the web.

If you narrow it down some (like if Windows Firewall is on, or what firewall you're using, and any Web protectionsoftwar, and what Anti-Virus program) can probably be of more specific help.

I have just installed the lucy item updater in windows 7 pro 64 bit and I made sure it was installed to c:\program files (x86)\EQItem then the first time I ran it I got an error then reran it as administrator and it seemed fine.

The only issue I now have is that there are items that don't exist in Alla's that I am wearing and it doesnt discover them.

I am at a loss.

I have deactivated the Firewall, installed it into the standard folder (c:\program files(x86)\EQ item collector), tried it in administrative mode, nothing.

I always get the same error and there is no log or anything from which I could see what is wrong. Does it use any specific ports which I might try to set in the NAT of the router?

Shouldn't be any particular port, I'd think 80 or 21, standard web / ftp port. Anyway, just so you're not going through all this work for nothing in the end. Once it can contact the web, and get an updated version of its self, it'll need to be able to detect which network interface to listen to. If you're using a Wireless connection, it most likely won't be able to detect or use it anyway.

You might also try installing it in a different directory. I'm not sure about Win7, but I had trouble with Vista and Program Files (x86), and just put it in C:\Games\ItemCol, but that may just because I had to end up putting EQ in C:\Games\EQ because it wouldn't work in Program Files (X86), so I've ended up putting everything EQ related in a C:\Games subdirectory.

And if none of this helps, can try posting in the tech support section, along with more details:

NOt sure if you can without it actually starting up, but then it tells you each time.

However, mine is showing a modified date of 5/18/2009 06:49 pm.

Maybe that will help, not sure though.
