Is it just meFollow

I have to ask a silly question but is it just mean does everyone that plays eq now box and forgot how to have fun?? I realize I just returned and not trying to critize or put anyone down. I am just not finding eq as interesting anymore, not only because of boxing but I made a shadow knight on the 51/50 server and whenever I am looking for group. I receive a tell come to PON, POF, POV tank for us, when I get there they ask me if I have a tank merc or cleric. I say cleric they always drop a tank and want me to dps. I did not make a shadow knight to always dps gets frustrating and boring quickly. I for one understand mercs are meant to help people groups and let play the game in a different style. I did not think or realize that mercs were going to be such a tremendous change to eq, I feel they are over power at level 61 with 200 aa’s I can’t tank 5 and 6 dark blue or white con mobs at once or make a cleric that never runs out of mana. I am sorry but if this is how the game is now not worth me investing my money into a new computer, spend money to play eq, time when mercs can do things that any normal player can’t do. I might be alone on this but guess eq is changed and I don’t like it. I will move onto either eq 2, vanguard, wow, guild wars, guild wars 2, war hammer online, etc because if this is how eq is now quite boring, frustrating I might be an odd man out but I am the type of person we as people 6 individual people come together team up together, discuss, come up with ideas and stargries how to win the encounter not drop a damn merc and sit and do nothing. “ MERCS = DEATH OF EQ AND BORING.”

its not just you mate. a grant you a large percentage of players these days only care about how to get fastest exp or the best loot as quick as possible. there are still some left myself included that would happily spend 6 months getting to lvl 60 like the good old days.

I don't except it to take 6 months but when told I went from level 51 to 60 in 2 days and now have over 200 aa's something is going on. I notice also at 65 I can get gear pretty much equals anguish and have a better sk at65 then could of ever had at 70 in the past. I guess I just want people toplay andnotbe some much of a rush I know it's great to have good gear and see high endcontent but I have been playing eq since august 2003 and still have yet tosee 75% of the content.

I don't understand how either people in the 60's can have a tier 5 Journeyman merc to me they should require level 85 and be hard to get as your epic 2.0 if not a little harder. I asked think that merc could tank Cipheron in wos and of course the person response was yes them and their guild already tried it with success which not sure if they were serious or lying. I figure if that is true that is completely stupid a level 85 sk with max aa’s would have a hard time tanking him when I say tank I mean as lead tank sk don’t have the damage disc warrior have so if merc can do that I am done.

I am at a lost? You joined a server that starts at 51 and you are upset about leveling too fast. Have you tried the other servers? Lately on Zek, and I am assuming other servers too, have been showing an increase of the low level, coming back or new player. The social aspect of the game has changed from the old days. But if you want you can do a lot of solo with a healer Merc at your own pace. But there are fewer, out there, willing to go slow. There have been some threads here from people going their own pace. In the "Old" style. You might what to hook up with them on their server. Might be what you are looking for?

A level 85 sk with max aas would have no problem tanking Cipheron.

It has changed but you have to ask yourself what you are doing when you can't find a group. Do you log off or pop a merc and get something done?

There is a pattern with MMO's. They get some age on them and the lower level grouping goes away. The reason why is simple. Everyone who wanted to play the game has been playing and is much higher level. What is left is a trickle of new players joining or experienced players starting a new toon.

I am simply amazed that EQ is even still around.

Having just come back, I myself, do not mind the mercs so much. What I do mind is soloing. Im paying 15 a month I dont want to solo. I will trio, or go as low as duo with people I meet and have fun that way, but solo is just so boring.

I am a Cleric and I travel with a Necro Friend. He has a Cleric merc and I have a tank merc, between mercs and pets we are just about a full group, and we have fun. Sometimes a Shammy friend of ours joins, or a monk friend. Sometimes both, and we end up having 3 mercs or dropping a merc.

I think they are great for filling up a party because there arent as many low levels anymore. But I would hate to just solo the whole way, to me, its boring.

Well................It all comes back to SoE MARKETING the game again!!!
They need to target the Never before "Gamer".
Lots of threads covering this subject here. Smiley: grin
Also, specially the blue servers, to welcome the new player and to realise how important they are to a healthy, "still kicking", "it's Alive", "The THING that would leave" game.
You have 8 slots, would not hurt to dedicate one of those to a lower level. I've read here that there is still a lot of content that has yet to be discovered? I can't find it but in my heart I know it is there. Besides if like me you need the empty, Trader Satchel filled, bank slots. For those, just can't delete treasures.
Happy New Year
2010 the year someone wakes SoE's marketing team up?

Not to beat a dead horse here, but if SOE was looking to reinvigorate EQ1, they would have used the tenth anniversary and the Underfoot expansion to cater to expanding the player base. They didn't. They are clearly focused on retaining the people who are "too invested" to quit by providing them with content.

SOE has dropped support for Vanguard already. They're not working to make these game worlds better places, they are working to generate the most cash possible with the least expense.

Then why make an expansion at all? and it is not a DEAD horse...the game is alive...I bet there is more population then a year ago.

I don't mean the game is dead by any means. It seems EQ has a larger subscriber base than EQ2 or VG actually, and most of those people are at or near the level cap. While I would have preferred another expansion like the Serpent's Spine it seems they didn't feel that the added investment would have paid off. Instead they support the biggest demographic with another zone to play in for another 12 months.

Would love to see another expansion like TSS with 1- max level content, perhaps with a new race again. I dare not dream of a new class. I am one of those people who love to start new toons and play them up. ;)
