Which server to join after time off?Follow

#1 Dec 25 2009 at 9:23 PM Rating: Good
The question I am looking for an answer to is about which server would best suit me in my play style? I enjoy being in a guild that raids and groups together. If it is a high end raid guild all the better, but then which server to choose and which might recruit a bard is hard to decide! Does anyone have any suggestions about which server to look into or guild?

I have ben researching into the progression servers and even though they seem the best fit. They have all been unlocked to the point where I might as well join a normal server. Does anyone know if SOE will release a new progression server soon?

The progression servers are no more, or they are unaccessable unless I am mistaken.

As much as I would love for SoE to make a progression server or restart one it doesn't seem likely to happen. They just opened the Mayong server where characters are instantly level 51 with 50 AA points and a full set of Defiant armor. An incredible waste of an opportunity to give players who really want a progression or "classic" server and reattract players who want to relive (like myself) the good old days.

I cannot speak for regular servers and how they are doing but I play mostly on the Test server and it is the best server I have ever played on.
If you want to do progression as a guild and raid old content come and join our guild, Intended Consequences, and have a blast. We're currently in PoP and having a good time.
Test probably isn't the best for raiding as it has a lower population than most servers but I will say the community of players is by far better than any other I've seen.

mr. beyond.

I am interested in coming back to EQ, It has been years since i played and really dont remember the game at all. I am looking to play causally, but would have to level fast in order to be able to raid and such.
I am looking into playing a Cleric again like i did in the old days. How would I access this test server of yours, and would I be allowed to join your guild?

Here's the website for Intended Consequences

http://www.ucguild.com/rules.php

You should know that POP is not end game content, it's at least 6 years old, the guild enforces level caps on "mains" and there is no transfer to or from the test server.

I read your other post and honestly since you have a family, finishing school, likely have a full time job etc UC might be a good fit.

No offense intended but you are going to be a casual raider given what I see as your time available to play. Other guilds on regular servers that raid semi-high end content will more than likely require level 80 with a minimum of 7-800 aa's especially on a cleric, which takes a serious time commitment.

Another thing to note is that with the introduction of mercs, most people will not invite a cleric to a group especially under lvl 80, it's just much more convienient to pop out a cleric merc that never goes /afk, never competes for loot, never has goals of it's own etc. Clerics are HIGHLY desired on raids though as mercs aren't allowed in instanced raid zones.

Oh, one more thing, in order to play on the Test server, go to windows explorer, look for the folder where EQ is installed (usually C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest) and run TestEverquest.exe. And you can /testbuff to lvl 25 there also with a full spell book and decent gear for a lvl 25 toon.

Goodluck and welcome back to EQ.

As far as servers go ... I left Prexus and joined Povar and havent looked back. Heck, I have actually been in groups all the way up to level 56 where i currently have stopped to aa a bit. Povar offers large raiding guilds as well as the smaller, more family type ones also. If you are returning, I would recommend Povar as a place to call home.

The move has re-established my interest in EQ.
