Anyone else been rolled back over the "better than expected experience in older zones" so called bug?

They didn't do global rollbacks I would assume since the "bug" occurred the day before Underfoot launch and that would have been good horrible PR...

Ironically, I got "better-than-expected xp" in a zone I had never successfully killed a mob in before (makes it hard to know what you are supposed to get, though I was suspicous if it was hotzoned early or something as it seemed very nice). After a while of grinding and enjoying it, the zone was taken down (at first I thought the whole server was coming down, but that was not the case).

Anyways, they wiped about a week (and an active one at that... sigh) from my character as they did the roll back 6 days after the "heinous" incident. While I think it is stupid that they would bother to roll back anyone at all, I do find it extremely annoying that they 1. didn't talk to be about it. 2. have called me an exploiter when I asked about it via petition and 3. didn't have the precision to take away the "extra" xp from the zone they put up with more than it should have.

A GM saying to me "Hey, that zone was bugged and you got __% more xp than you should have, we are going to adjust it to what you should have got... well I would have no complaints.

Of course a smarter company would send me a letter: Merry Christmas valued SoE customer. We hope you enjoyed your extra xp. We recognize that your gimp little character isn't going to unbalance the game having had a the benefit of our little error. Happy holiday, your buddies at SoE

I suspect quite a few old school players away for the holidays will come back and find themselves rolled back.

Well i can understand that the high level crowd that shoruded down to level 70 and made 700+ aas a day got rolled back. To bad some unlucky people got caught up in it aswell.

Not much to be done about it now, but it makes you wonder why the people taking advantage of the same bug in the Old Bloodfields zone (85+) didnt get rolled back...

First, the bug was related to AA experience and not regular experience.

Second, reports were that on some kills the person would get 4 to 6 AA per kill, and on some other mobs there would be zero AA experience gained.

Third, I have not heard any reports of people getting rolled back that only killed a mob or two. People that abused the bug (more than a couple of kills) got rolled back.

I agree that it is upsetting that you got rolled back, but be honest, getting 4 to 6 AA PER KILL didn't seem a little out of the ordinary. At best, SOE only gave double exp for kills as a "bonus", never have they given 20-fold experience.

Also, on the official SOE boards, the devs posted that people that abused the bug would be rolled back. They announced it the day after the bug was found.

The rogue that was in VP at the time with me lost 8 levels from the rollback. He gained 5 of them in VP.

As I said, I don't disagree with the rollback, merely the way it was done. It should have been announced in the yellow text when you login, I would have been inactive for the next 6 days and therefore not been gouged.

There are places I regularly get 60% aa per kill. That are not formerly locked end-game dungeons, coinciding with the frostfell patch (so who knows what they are up to). In other words, sure it seemed odd but since it wasn't dealt with immediately it becomes a shrug situation.

Depends on how wide your circles are, I guess. I know of 4 people who were rolled back to before the Underfoot headstart simply because they were camping a mob in VP (Xygoz). Yes, they killed more than a mob or two but they're 85s and those mobs don't give crap for xp anyway. The problem is, the punishment didn't feel the crime uniformly. If you were in VP (or the Hole) exploiting, you should be rolled back to the point immediately prior to you entering the zone the first time. People who were in the zone(s) legitimately and didn't reap any remarkable rewards, shouldn't be rolled back simply because they were there! It's like arresting everyone in the bank after a bank robbery. You were there, so you must've been stealing. Let's not even bother to look at the security camera footage (or the server logs, in this case), just round everyone up and take 'em in.

And snailish is wrong. The bug didn't occur the day before Underfoot's launch. The bug became widely known then but it existed from the day of the patch that added the Underfoot UI elements and such. At least that's when I first became aware of it (when someone invited me to the Hole to PL my baby chanter. I declined once they told me how "good" the xp was...and how many people were in zone). There's nothing that attracts GM attention more than unusual activity in "dead" zones (or a single person/few people in a "dead" zone for a long period of time). That's how they bust the morons macroing in Forgotten Halls. It's like those people who think Rallos Returns was only soloable recently. It's been soloable since SoD launch (the mechanics didn't change, it just became widely known several months ago).

Bad Vinney, bad bad Vinney.
Now with that said. I for one stumbled in the hole by accident. At 73, all experience channeled to AAing, I got the invitation to enter Underfoot early. Bought my stone at guild hall, (didn’t look to see if there was a port item), became invisible and went in to Brell’s Rest. Explored around, went into a few zones and then came back and found the cave to the Hole’s entrance. Once in the hole I got attacked. Two light blues and a dark blue to my 73 Ranger. Killed all three and after each kill “Ding” I leveled in AA’s not just one but they were worth 4 AA’s each. Enquiring minds gotta know. So I continued to experiment with different levels…and 400 AA’s later I determined that there was a bug. (LOL). In the mean time I forgot to put up Anon In Zek best to keep Anon up….Some enthusiastic PKers decided to run /who all level 73 and long and behold they found me. As I zoned to safety the continued to kill the mob that was on me and found out my dirty little secret. By the time I went back in there were over 30 players in the Hole. Well camped and logged on Trader Armourcarr, slept, went to work and finally came back to find out my Ranger was rolled back. I knew it was an exploit, I fully took advantage of it, and when I found out I lost all those AA’s I was disappointed but not surprised. In my opinion I think SoE handled it fine. I was in a zone which like it was said earlier at most may have 5 people in it on rare occasions. Lost my AA’s I gained that night, My hand WAS NOT slapped. And actually it was kind of fun….I now know what I need to purchase with my AA’s and what can wait. But it is a game…. earn the 3 or 4 AA’s you might of gotten again.
Personally I would pick a different hill to die on.
