Do alot of people still play EQ1? Me and my friend were discussing all the good times we had and were thinking about starting up again but we don't want to pick up the game and pay just to sit and twiddle our thumbs, so I was wondering if anyone here can tell me whats the most active server and about how many people are on it. Thanks in advance =]

mayong is the busiest server as it only opened mid last year and allows you to start a toon at lvl 51 with 50 free AAs. I myself play on Antonius Bayle this server is aimed at the eurpean market so tends to have different busy times to other servers. On AB once you get to around lvl 50 you will start to find someone to group with fairly easily and once you get to 60 you will find yourself in a lot more full groups.

Also, with each of you playing a toon, plus two mercs, and the new gear out there (through all levels), you could in threory do all of the group game up to and including most of the SoD group progression.

If you play typically 6-9pm Eastern Standard Time, and want to do things casually then Povar server might work for you.

Jonwin leads <Aude Sapere> there and has enticed some of us to reroll and/or move characters there. The atmosphere is mature (though certainly kid-safe) and friendly.

The core group is a handful of players at the moment, but its the kind of guild that has long-time veterans dropping back in now and then --there's a fair number of alla posters in the guild roster.

I found Bristlebane to be fairly active.

Mayong was quite active if that set-up suits you (I had fun for a bit there, but lost interest I admit).

Antonius Bayle is healthy by all accounts and likely to remain so due to its European roots and therefore odd time zones for us Western folks (great for night shifters, etc.).

Stromm used to get a lot of props for being an active server too.

Others have covered the basic answer to your question, but here are some more links that might be useful, the first before you decide, and the rest if you decide to come back.

There are some other threads in the first few pages, for requests for players to join a particular guidl / server, but as most would say, other than Mayong, if you got friends on a server, it may be your best choice. If not, I always liked trying out a few different ones.

Hope this helps some, and welcome back if you decide. :)
