The PvP server question.Follow

#1 Dec 10 2009 at 3:11 PM Rating: Decent
I was looking to join the PvP server (I think there is only one, correct?) but its been forever since I have played EQ, let alone PvP. Is it a pretty populated server? Anything paticulary different about it besides the PvP aspect?

Trunksbrando,
Like the majority of servers on EQ the population on Zek has dwindled a bit.
You are correct; Zek is the only server that there is open PvP.
Some basics:
1) PvP starts at level 6, it might be 5 but most players stay in tutorial until 10-13 anyway.
2) You can only attack 4 levels + or – (unless there is a guild war, which I personally have not seen in a long time. Any player from that guild can kill rival guild member despite level)
3) There are 5 zones where you can not PvP in. PoK, PoT, Bazaar, Nexus & Shadowrest. (if there are more please correct me)
4) You can no longer loot your opponent but you do gain PvP points that can be spent at a NPC vendor in the bazaar.
5) When and or if you die you and all your stuff transport to Shadowrest. You will have a Rez effect on you usually for about 15min. There are ways to reduce this time. When you leave zone you are ported to your bind spot. (no more naked corpse runs)
6) At low level PvP gear is everything. The higher you get the more skill is involved but gear is still very important. If you learn and play your class well, than any class can be dominate.
7) Yes there is twinking, deleveling and the use of 3 party cheats is more obvious. But this started on PvP since day two of game.(Not making excuses for cheating but it is there)
8) Most players play under anonymous but if they are not you can find people within your level by searching game with /who all level12 …./who all level 13 etc. commands. But with all the different zones it is easy to avoid people.
9) You can or will be attacked while you have low life fighting a mob, being with a group and you THINK they are your friends or an emergency comes up in real life and you leave your toon AFK. Everything is fair and nothing sacred.
10) You will also find out that most, not all opponents feel that you have just become a trophy for them. They announce on General Chat how many points you were worth and how easy you were to defeat. If you reply to this usually will extend the time they boast and I then put both of you on ignore. lol
Even with all this I would not play on any other server. Just adds that little extra to the game for me.
Make a toon and join Zek. “Just Do It”
