When and where to grind AAs?Follow

#1 Dec 08 2009 at 1:29 PM Rating: Decent
Hail!

Does anyone have a few good level/zone combinations for grinding maximum AAs? I am working on a twink, so leveling is not important (the toon in question just hit 51), other than the minimum level requirements for specific AAs. I want to max them out (excluding innate charisma, etc) before progressing in levels. The character is a very well equipped SK and she solos well, especially with her little frog mercenary.

Thanks!

P.S. I dislike the farm with the intensity of 10,000 red hot suns, but any other suggestions are appreciated!

I know this doesn’t pertain to lower levels but lately I have been AAing in The Buried Sea (70 hot zone). I have been doing the “Ahoy! Treasures Washed Ashore”
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=4079
And might be done with lower levels because of no fighting and can be done 80% invis. Be careful by turn in there are some roaming pirates.
The chests spawn every 6 min. a little longer then it takes to target, /open, loot the item and move on to the next chest. You can avoid any mobs by invis except for the Red Feather birdmen which they are friendly to me. But stand by the furthest chest on the south part of the Redfether Island. There are 5 chests. (Two of them underwater) but all on the same island and easy to make a circuit.
See Johnny the Black Crow for the start of the quest and to hand in the items to him for the reward. I picked “experience” but you can also choose faction or plat. At 73 running the quest gives me 1/3 of and AA = 18 min one Full AA… there are better spots but this is done solo and on my time, safe and easy. But it is a quest I can do in a short period of time with a nice experience gain for me.

My personal favorite are the hotzones, especially if they are an old world zone.

at 75 my favorites were Muramite proving grounds, RSS, Ruins of Illsalin, the DoDH missions in the Hive, and Icefall Glacier. but probably Ruins of Illsalin my all time favorite AAing spot. love that zone.

i miss this game...

Typically the hot zones will be the best for low to mid 50's and right now Grieg's is excellent. Level up to 55 and grind as many as you can stand in there.

Once you get sick of that I'd suggest either Crypt or Hole - level to 65 and AA for as long as you can stand.

After that go to 70 in those zones, then move to Paw and level up to 75 and then AA for as long as you can stand.

Splitpaw is my favorite for 75 AA grinding. Quick 10pp guild hall port over and fast easy kills, good cash. 10-12% per kill usually. Drops to 8-10% if still using a merc at 75 or so, BUT I like to keep it easy, so I tend to use one.

During this 70-75 period it's good to mix in the Hand aug. Especially now that it's a hot zone as well, but I haven't really found the xp to be outstanding unless you take a group and mass kill.

Can always mix in PoFire 70-75 in there as well, but that zone tends to have more traffic in it.

To sum it up:
Level to 55 - Grieg's AA as much as you can
Level to 65 - Crypt / PoFire / Hole, AA as much as you can stand.
Level to 70 - The Hole or Splitpaw, AA as much as you can stand.
Level to 75 - Mix in Hand Aug / Splitpaw still very good, AA as much as you can.

Push to 80 when your brain explodes.

Blackfeather roost is great xp 51-65, useful 66-70ish if your aa count is still getting the bonus and you can kill them efficiently. Kiters excel here from what I have seen.

Chardok B as soon as you can handle it, decent aa at 65 for my monk.

Icefall Glacier seems to be great for kiting at 70, that's what my necro has been doing lately.

Vinney, there is NO CHOICE for experience, plat or faction you get all three. Try picking something beside plat and notice your plat goes up anyway. The choices are in the left part of the window, and would be various "bones" from the hand task or the 75 plat option if you arent doing the Jonas Dagmire task for the hand aug. I don't think your task gives any bones, can't remember

I always liked Sebilis, especially down by the Juggernauts, as soon as I could handle it. Nice AAXP and some spell drops unavailable off Kunark (although most will become obsolete these days).

Low 60's is good here although you should always hit 61 rather than stop at 60. 62 is a good pausing point since you can get your 60-62 PoP spells (if you're a caster) pretty easily and then go tromp some Kunark/Velious/Luclin content.

Either City of mist or if you can tank decently, you might try veksar (both are hotzones right now)

A little tip:
Most melee characters i see in that level range use a cleric merc, like i suspect you do. The reason for this might be that people are unaware of the fact that merc tanks can do 1-60 tanking without the need to be healed. So the benefit of using a tank over a cleric is a bit more dps if you set him as tank when you are low on mana or just want to slack.

Try it, it works :)
