Ok im trying to do the wanderlust quest for this zone. I go down the elevator and am in front of a set of doors that I have been unable to pass. Even tried the Illusion/click off illusion tactic. Do I need a key? Have I missed some section I need to click on?

There is a keyed door, and it's very wide is why the Illusion is probably not working. But for the Wanderlust, you don't need the key or to go through to the inner Vergalid. Also, you don't need to uninvis to hail the NPC (died the first time I did it, because of that :D ... lots of aggro mobs around, NPC may aggro too, can't remember for sure) Map file spots:
P 738.7184, -221.1007, -296.8096, 240, 0, 240, 3, Inquirer_Galstat
P 1520, 305, -200, 240, 0, 240, 3, Flooded_Caves
P 1270, -900, -300, 240, 0, 240, 3, Burial_Chamber
P 1515, -900, -300, 240, 0, 240, 3, Shrine_of_Zek
All but the Flooded Cave is left from the elevator (as you're exiting it), and the first left again. The flooded caves are to the right off the lift. The Shrine of Zek is close to the door for Inner Vergalid.

I read the quests for the zone. Is the inspector on the first upper level? Now that I notice the height on the loc I will relog and see.

Ok I found him. If only I had looked at the map closer his location was marked. DOH
Grats! And as you found out, everything is down the lift. Yea, I have a Wanderlust #2 marked on my map, but it doesn't appear to be any update points :-/
If you plan on doing the Shield of the Otherworld aug quest, you'll need the key, or the Symbol clicky quest also. Invis + IVU is very helpful for getting around in the Inner part. And while you're killing for the key drop there's a named that drops a nice twinkish ring for 50s. Ok, I guess it's not tht great with defiant jewelry and the new crafted jewelry, but it used to be very nice :D Ring of Blood. I guess since it's trade-able it'll still be useful. The Snapjaw 2Her isn't sought after any more either, and used to be a great money maker.

Aye why aren't people after Snapjaw's 2her anymore? Imo its a great weapon, 45/35 w/ ok stats, 300ish hp and a 150 dd proc...i mean that sounds great on paper!

Haha already did man, spent hours farming that spot, learned a lot about the zone, mostly that it sucks *** :S haha. I got one for my baby zerker, only 28 atm, but I started him last week, their DPS is amazing, hes using a Blackened Acrylia Greatsword, w/ skinspikes, just insane exp in LoIO atm haha.

Johhny if you dont like the zone why bother. YOur sk will soon be able to use the dawnlight zweihander.
After thinking about it, I realized the door is not really a door, but a thick wall, and the key actually ports you to the other side, instead of opening it, which is why you either have to be /corpse dragged acroos or have a key, and probably why the illusion trick also doesn't work.
And about Snapjaw's 2Her, I think the reason it's not so sought after is, as has been explained, that it is faster to just level to an easier to get and better weapon, and the rarity of the drop makes those farming it, want much more than what you can get other weapons for.
