Hi,
just bought a new computer runing windows 7. I instaleld eq, and ran launch pad, it starts to update, but then stops, and doesnt fully update. It says update complete under the bigger box, which normally has the play button. In the bigger box it just says updating. any reason why its not fully downloading game and giving me the "Play" option?

I'm extremely new at Windows 7 but two things come to mind: make sure you allowed launchpad access through the firewall and make sure you launch the program with "run as administrator".

hi there .. you need you right click he EQ shortcut and run as administrator. That is what I had to do with Vista until I disabled the UAC (user account control). I found it in the user settings. Win7 is suppose to have the same thing.

I also had a hell of a time installing EQ on windows 7. The whole permissions thing is whacked.

Just this morning my station launcher was having problems. Was playing but was having some video problems, figured I would just reboot the computer. Rebooted, logged back into account, clicked on station launcher and... nothing. Right clicked, ran as administrator, still nothing. Reboot again and nothing. Check permissions and nothing.

I open task manager to see what processes are running and sure enough station launcher is running. It's not in my tray nor is it anywhere else. I end the process and try again. Comes up in processes in the task manager but nothing else.

My solution was to uninstall station launcher and reinstall it. Now it works again (for today anyways).

I am very disappointed that there is such a struggle working with Windows 7. Having been an XP user for so long I am amazed at how much BS one has to go thru to install and run things. It's not like I want to spend 3 hours trying to figure what is wrong with something so simple as installing a program or clicking on a short cut then nothing happening.

Windows 7 and Windows Vista both have the same 2 issues with running EQ:

1) Neither comes packed with DirectX9.0c (They both are set up with DirectX10) You are going to need to get DirectX9.oc and install it. Easiest place is to search the Microsoft Update site for it.

2) Both require you to run EQ in Admin mode in order to launce EQ. You can either keep clicking the stupid little box, right click the icon and choose "Run as Admin..." every time you want to play, or Right click the icon and open properties and set it to Always run as admin...
