I play on the Innoruuk (*cough* The Nameless) server and in the last few days I have been totally blown away by acts of random kindness. I know that the general population is more helpful than many other games but these incidents just stood out and I thought it would be nice to mention them.

I was bottom scavenging [select all armor < 25 pp] in the bazaar and I came across a couple of real gems. As I was going between traders to buy these deals up, I noticed some were disappearing fast. Just as I bought the last one, someone else ran up to that trader and then sent me a direct tell "Did you just buy that belt?". I was getting ready for an angry tirade and nearly didn't respond, but on a lark I sent back "Yeah I did buy it." Instead of anger or insistence that I sell it to him, he said he had come to buy it but congratulated me on getting a great deal first.

Later I was in Sebilis with my enchanter, charming and having a good 'ole time when an 85 monk popped in. He actually asked me if everything was ok (I had a couple mobs on me at the time) and said he'd be in the zone for a bit and to yell if I needed any help. A little later as I moved to another area, I saw massive piles of corpses. He hadn't looted any of them and I cleared the mess up netting well over 800p in cash and gems.

Last night, also in Sebilis, I was killing juggs and a duo came by and said they were going to spawn Trakanon. They invited me to their group and proceeded to pull a massive train of juggs, frogloks, and mushroom men which killed themselves on the cleric's damage shield. They popped Trakanon and killed him as well, telling me to loot everything when they had finished, including a Singing Steel Breastplate.

edit: Oh, I nearly forgot, we have a druid who takes the time to walk around the guild lobby every day, individually buffing people that are too low level for MGBs! /end edit

It's a bit of a culture shock still, being back for only a few weeks, but the general level of maturity and kindness you get in Everquest is topnotch in my opinion.

((Jophiel - I did finally read your spoiler about the locked door by the juggs, but only after I had killed everything else back there first and got no key!))

I have found the same on FV...more than a few times guildeies have been looking for help on 1.5 mobs, or just doing a particularly hard encounter, and people step up all the time to help and refuse loot or payment, or anything.

And except for the rare few, even just questions asked in general get helpful answers and people take the time to help newbies get along in the game

And people are always buffing others...

Glad to see it is not just the server...

How did they "spawn Trakanon"?
Doing the Bard 1.0?

I thought that only the real Trak dropped any loot.
I've never been part of any group or raid that spawned
him so I really don't know.
I've killed him many times, but all just the regular ones.

There was an undead bard standing in the room. One of them did say something about forgetting 'a lute body' and he left to get it. Once they killed the undead bard, Trakanon spawned immediately.

Neither one was a bard, they said it was just for fun. I don't know anything about the bard epic quests myself.

When I was leveling off Juggs, I had my SK run the Mystical Lute Body part of the bard epic quest (paid like 10k for the white scale, killed Shade of Nortlav for the red scale and used a shroud to charm the NPC and hand it in). Then, sometimes when I'd see the UDB up, I'd pop Trakanon just for giggles and solo him.

"Real" Trakanon drops two major items off his loot table (Kunark BPs, mana robe, etc) plus teeth for the VP key quest and potentially the sinews for an obsolete shoulder item quest. Popped Trak drops the guts for the bard epic and a single major item off his loot table. I think popped might drop spells as well; I know "real" Trak does (and quite a few of them).
