Another "comming back" question...Loot?Follow

#1 Oct 21 2009 at 12:43 PM Rating: Decent
I'm currently playing the free trial and seriously considering buying the "Seeds of Destruction" dl to get all the expansions.
My main question is, did they change the loot drops? When I last played, which was like '03ish, most mobs only droped a few things, and you had to find the boss/rare mobs to get the nice stuff. After playing games like WoW and EQ2, where every trash mob has a small chance to drop some really nice stuff along with the usual vendor bait, I was wondering if EQ is like that now? Did they revamp the loot/drop system or is it preaty much still the same?
Thanks!

They added defiant gear to all the mobs loot tables. Defiant gear is definitely a nice upgrade to old school items, you can get weapons and armor. It just seems you never get the piece you need, like a plate wearer will get cloth/silk and so on. Some hot zone items are nice too, especially the augs for the level of content they drop in.

Well thats preaty cool! Are they drops from any lvl mobs or is a higher lvl thing? I have a 52 Ranger, but really dont remember my account info, so I'm going to be starting new again.
Thanks!

Yeah they can drop from any mob of any level and the level of gear is dependent on the level of the mob.

As for the defiant gear, I find as a level 62 soloing light blues & blues I am getting drops that are going to my alts. No surprise there, and honestly, I have gotten a ton of defiant drops so far so it is a refreshing change. Vendor sellables seem to have been massively increased as well, including gem drops so coming away from a casual hour session I'm netting a bag full of bazaar goods and 500-1k plat in vendor trash.

It's a new game for sure. Welcome back.

By the way, if you can wait until Dec 15, you can buy the Underfoot expansion and also get all the rest of the content enabled. It doesn't seem like it will offer much to returning players like us, but there is a new achievement system, target system, AAs and tradeskills in addition to the level 85 (raid?) content.

Welcome Back,

Try out the Mayong server if you like to do alot of grouping. It's a new server, 5 months old only, with a high population of new or newly returned players. You begin at level 51, in a full set of defiant gear/weapons + all your spells and skills maxxed for 51.

I went there when it launched, the older server/s can be a bit lonely especially at the lower levels. I have had alot of fun on Mayong and you will too!

IF you play eastern time think about povar. Aude Sapere is 5 people strong! Just tagged Friar Bijou and Zodan last night. They are starting and are in their teens already! No raiding, just a chance to group with friendly folks.

Mayong is another excellent choice if you want to skip the brief grind.
