Poll: Will you purchase Underfoot?Follow

You have 6 accounts?

Basically the dev's stated that if they increased the power of your character then they won't be able to tune the content to be hard.

So they basically promised to stagnate every class/player. To try and create hard content.

So since they stagnated it all, they also have 0 real upgrades or reason to buy/play the expansion.

So basically this expansion has no hook, and is a hugh waste of time from how it is being reported from the EQ dev's atm.

Nope! I'm still working on progression and gear upgrades in the current expansion. I'm getting tired of getting half way through quests and progression only for another expansion to come out and everyone moves on. I skipped TBS and I will skill Underfoot. Give me something worth the $40!!!

Someone mentioned previous the level cap. Another item I should point out that is getting behind are Epics. When regular named mobs drop items better than your epic, then it is time for SoE to come out with the next round of Epics or upgrades.

I voted yes. I like the features of extended target window, new tradeskills , aa's and the new achievement system hopefully less paper work or work to keep track of.

I got this information from the website http://www.everquest.com/everquest.vm According to them this is what Underfoot will/may contain.

"At a time when the ancient gods Laid their claim to Norrath, Brell Serilis, the Duke of Below, turned his focus to the Plane of Underfoot and claimed it for his own. Here, Brell sealed Underfoot off from the world's prying eyes, filling it with amazing creatures sculpted by his own hands and discarding those that didnt meet his flawless standards. The plane its self is a network of glowing caverns, living caves, and burning Lava flows twisting and turning deep into the world. Now, a sinister figure is growing in power and threatens to overthrow Brell and disrupt the perfect world he's created.

Enter the underground lair of Brell Serilis, one of the most fabled and mysterious beings in all of Norrath, uncover the epic challenges around every corner and solve the mystery of the silhouette lurking in the shadows.

Feature set:

Massive amount of content - Includes the new expansion pack and all 15 previous expansions and content.

Amazing new zones - Dig into 12 new zones throughout the realm of Brell Serilis that will take you through dozens of new quests and missions

New AAs - Optimize your character's power and strength with all new alternate advancement abilities

New weapons and armor - Outfit your character with some of the hundreds of new options

Master your tradeskilling - Create powerful new weapons, armor and more with thousands of new recipies

Extended target window - Track friends and foes with greater accuracy

Achivement System - Display and manage your progress through the world of Norrath

Mark of Brell in game item - Teleport directly into the Underfoot zone (one per account, non-tradeable)

Battle your way through all-new raids and conquer the most powerful Denizens of the Underfoot!

Epic upgrades doubtfully ever will come back in.

I'll wait on buying, but I'll have to buy it for raiding. >_>

The new expansions are always where the players are. If you miss, or are late buying that, you will miss the grouping and the xp.

Nope...

I posted about the "epic" disappointment in another area...totally bogus that you can get better drops than an epic. I don't know about others, but I'm not buying an expansion til we get more epic content.

2 things I think they need to do with epics (and I count Coldain Shawl & Cabilis epics in this category):

1. implement the appearance window from EQ2. If I want to carry around my 1.0 chanter snake as my visible weapon let me. Alternative implementation is allow all unique-graphic epics create ornamentation molds so I can make all my weapons into 1.0 chanter snakes (if I am a chanter).

2. At the very least... every expansion should have a group level turn in that makes the epic match the group-level gear, and then a raid-required turn in that makes it comparable to the raid gear from that expansion. I don't mean a 80 hour timesink either --you did that to get the epic in some cases (depending when you did it).

Sony has finally left behind the casual player who cannot find in their schedules those times necessary to group or raid, but have managed over the years to find enjoymment and relaxation in their solo efforts.

Actually Everquest is a massive game that supports all kinds of play styles, including solo, small group, just friends, group, guild, and raids. That's one of the amazing things about the game that there's something to appeal to nearly everyone.

People playing the game in different ways than you aren't doing it wrong, they're doing it their way just like you are. A good company wanting to sell products generally tries to support all possible consumers - in the case of a MMOG we're talking about soloers to raiders. That's why a couple people mentioned "hooks" - things to draw people in regardless of their play style.

Be inclusive, accept the way others play, it makes you friends and makes the world a better place. Everyone logging in to EQ is keeping the game alive - that's me, you, and everyone else, regardless of their play style

I think you missed what Aorora was trying to say. There are all these different play styles, but by not including yourself in each individual style you are limiting your content availability.

If you want content, expand your game play style instead of flaming on boards. I have one account with everything from solo characters, friend characters (cause some friends levels slow and don't want to raid), group and raid characters. I want to see everything in EQ because I quit for so many years and know that I missed out on all the things that people don't/wont do anymore.

Well actually Aorora was saying a couple of things:

* We're noobs

* We are missing content if we don't raid

* If we're only interested in group level (or below) we should "buy a PS3"

I fully agree with Aorora on the middle point, and my comment about being inclusive of solo, group and raid playstyles still stands. I'd also take issue with your categorizing my retort as "flaming". I was merely pointing out that people have different play styles and a good company takes that into account when they design content / game expansions.

Personally, I'll never get through the existing content so my own preferences hardly matter here.

I'm surprised by all the noob responses on this board. Anyone who has been in the game for several years and who is not in a guild that raids, is missing out on half the content in the game and then they whine about the lack of content. If you are only interested in group level content, go buy yourself a PS3 and stop complaining about the introduction of exciting raid content.

I will be buying this expansion on all 6 of my toons!

No wonder you have 6 accounts. You're too much a d-bag to group with.

Maybe.

Nothing has been announced that makes this a 'must have' expansion for me. So I'll wait until more features are announced (if they ever are) and decide as that information comes out. Much of that has to do with the fact that many of my characters haven't consumed the content currently available so I've got a lot in front of me.

i three box 50% of the time, and find i never ever have a problem finding a group if one is needed. You cannot force people to group with you, it just won't happen, the more sony try to force people to group and join raiding guilds the more they will rebel. I, for the first time will not be purchasing this new expansion for my accounts as i feel there will not be enough solo content yet again.

I piched yes to this, i have all the other expantions to date so i may as well get this one. not happy that i pay the full price for 1/2 the expantion or the fact that the lvlcap will raise yet again as i still have yet to reach lvl 85 with my Main yet. the underfoot site dosnt tell anything which is upsetting like one would put a colorfull package on the nastiest candy made, but i got to trust sony to work any bugs out quickly on this new expantion unlike the others that seemed to create more bugs....Is it too late to change my vote? i must be insane.

Whenever I read Sony's pre-expansion "hype" I always harken back to that expansion of a while back which was promoted somewhere with "ship to ship combat", evoking a sense of pirates fighting between sailing ships rolling forward under the high seas under full sails.

Anyone else remember that hype?

Um, that kinda never happened, not even close, so now I take a "caveat emptor" approach until the expansion actually arrives...

In case anyone doesn't remember that hype, here's a quote off a website promoting the Buried Sea expansion:

Quote:
Clint Worley, Producer, Sony Online Entertainment also said that an added feature to the Energeian Power is the player's ability to be "actively involved in the gameplay of this expansion from creating their own guild banners to participating in ship-to-ship combat on the open seas against swash-buckling pirates." How cool is that? Power sources can be changed out at any time too, allowing the player to quickly customize their entire armor set to best match the conditions they are fighting in.

I've never found that content so maybe someone can point me in the right direction?

Just a correction here, draxxu. Underfoot isn't raising the level cap.

Also, one of the reasons I'm taking a wait and see stance is due to the sheer number of accounts I have. Upgrading all of my accounts would cost me well over a thousand dollars. It's not necessary for many of them (they're not even 80 and/or have no use for mercs) but should Underfoot prove to be 'must have', I'll get it for those characters/accounts it's suitable for.

Are you kidding? I'm like 6 expansions behind already and haven't seen 3/4 of the zones I already own. Why am I going to buy more that I can't see?

Whats the point of getting it realy. I'm not in a raiding guild so I'll never see any of it. It would be throwing money down the drain to get it

Technically I should be saying the same...

But Coldain and Cliknars in a "confined underground labrynth of passages" has me thinking of Runneye on steroids. If Underfoot captures that old-school dungeon feel and properly extends the Coldain lore... it will easily be one of the best expansions ever.

Sure it crummy that my closest character to the content needs 15 levels, but the only expansion since Ldon I have actually been impressed with overall is TSS so it is no surprise I am behind the curve.

Consider me cautiously optimistic.

Yes, I will purchase for all 3 accounts, but I'm not real happy to have to pay for all 15 previous expansions again. I hope there is an option to just purchase the 16th exp.

You're looking at it as the glass half empty! It's not that you're paying for all the previous expansions again. It's that brand new players, finally enticed into jumping into "the full EQ experience", after 10 years and 16 expansions, are getting all the previous 15 expansions "thrown in free" with their purchase of this 16th installment!

That's the glass half full!..... er, sorta...

Can you imagine how few people would buy into Everquest if they had to purchase each expansion at the full original release price? What would that mean, they'd have to invest $600 to play the game?!!

Not only that, it lowers the barrier for returning players. Being current to the most recent expansion makes the game less confusing for everyone. Can you imagine if you tried to zone into Abysmal Sea to buy a spell only to be denied because you don't own that expansion?

In essence what they are doing is saying you can buy the game for $40, regardless if you never played before, or played 5 years ago and last bought Velious. The part that isn't completely fair is charging players that are current in their expansions the same price to get just the new expansion content. Of course SOE marketing assumes that those players are the ones least likely to skip it regardless of price.

The whole 'get all previous content' with every expansion is a genius move really and I suspect other games will have to follow suit as they age as well.
