Ive been playing eq for 6 years now and the highest character i got is 80. two in fact a rogue and a berserker. So yes i have problems picking a character. My issue is this. Im tired of LFG for 4hrs on those two. I know eq has gotten less group friendly out there but i really enjoy grouping. whats a good class that can get groups fairly easily and can solo when need be? im not big on pulling it gets old for me and draining so no monks or bards. necro solos too much cant get any groups with him. I dont mind healing much. i dont know if i can do it all the time although ive never played a cleric so im not really sure. Plus what keeps you sticking with one character?

Nothing keeps me sticking with one character. I play ranger, paladin, shaman, cleric and beastlord on a regular basis.
I would think shaman would be most group desired. Cleric is simple to play but very demanding in a players attention. I think it is the most demanding class there is and I love playing it for a long time.

Sounds to me like you are looking for a mage :)

do mages get groups higher up? Ive also never really tried a paladin. Ive noticed on our server theyve taken a huge dip latley in people playing them curious as to why?

Creater or joiner of groups can make a difference.

The masses seem to be loving DPS classes with mercs, with mages enjoying a huge surge in representation.

Mages could solo before mercs and other changes. Now they are really effective. They are also very useful in nearly any group.

Rogue and zerker... for general content if you are playing with a Merc tank then you would just need a healer or someone with a healer merc to put together decent groups, leaving two spots for gravy DPS/utility.

But that means setting yourself up to be putting the groups together (you probably wouldn't tankmerc & rogue it for soloing-with-merc so you have to be committed to the concept or be dropping mercs alot). Healer mains that aren't in busy guilds are lfg too...

Are you in a guild? Is it good (as in a core active player base that groups for fun)? This might be a bigger piece of your puzzle than changing classes and starting all over. Unless starting over appeals to you (I have done it, can be fun...).

starting over appeals to me. Im in a decent guild thats raiding some but it tends to be very clickie. I dont really raid that much due to rl and the guild seems to form the same groups with the same people over and over and the rest get ;eft out. i dont mind starting groups but the mms seem to have taken over right now and so its hard to get anything together since people on quellious are constanyly doing them over and over. i have a 75 mage but really couldnt get into him. they seemed too overpowered to me. kinda thinking war/pally since they a corner stone for a group but told pallies kinda suck right now. I may just stick out with the necro and solo til 85 hes 78 and hope grouping gets better.

kinda narrowed down to mage cleric and war. diverse i know but. i thought about a pally but i didnt really like their aa selection and a lot of their spells seem to be obsolete by mercs. I like the wars tanking ability and the ability to do some dps. mages of course can solo and the cleric im debating on. Healing sounds boring to do all the time but ive never played a healing class really so im not sure how it would be. Any insights on these classes?

1-40 all will be easy, as long as you like potions (especially skinspikes) and/or use a merc. From what I have seen... merc will make it easy to get 65 actually, but I haven't personally played it.

Clerics get much better to solo once you start getting ward of the divine line of spells and the funky damage shields (and healing proc weapons are reasonable price from my experience once you get past 40s).

Warriors I keep getting bored by 44ish so I am not helpful.

Mages seem to do fine in today's game. I haven't played to any significant degree, but they would certainly solo the best of the three and would also fit into the most Pick up group situations (there is no merc mage).

Total fresh start on new server vs. twinking on old server might make a difference too.

Come join us in aude sapere on Povar. Play your mage, or what ever. Eastern time grouping, very very small guild no raiding, but fun and some adventure.
If you aren't eastern time this would not be a good choice to make, though Alwayslost plays central time.
