I just starting playing a Shaman and for the life of me I can not find what the first pet is you get and at what level. I am sure I am not looking in the right place, but if someone could help me tha would be most appreciated.
On the menu on the left, click on Spell..., then Select Shaman, Level 1, And Higher, and it'll get you this list, which shows the first Summon Pet spell as Companion Spirit.

A quick way is to use the spell search and key word "summon" it will bring up almost any shaman spell with that word in the discribtion.
Just make sure you have level 1 and higher checked off in the spell list.
For my druid port spells I have a bookmark using the key word transport.
