Spent many an alt in the catacombs...never seen this mob. Where did you hear about it, and is it for a quest?

I suggest you post updates here on the alla forums if you are pursuing this ancient content. These kinds of things get foggy to do nowadays when some of the strats and tips predate Velious (aka stuff people describe as being difficult at level 20 no longer is).
As a side note, I found it funny that Jophiel has a post under the one linked thread dated 2002.

Well I had played the game a long time ago, just came back to the game . This is a new character, 10th level right now. I got the quest from Surefall Glades.

Maybe what I need to do is find a Guild, I am on the roleplaying server of EQ. Not sure who else might be there. My char is a 10th level Ranger. On a side note, how do I stop these stupid ads that are in front of where I am ssupposed to type?

Some would recommend not starting fresh and friendless on Fironia Vie (RP Server) due to it being a very established small commmunity from the legacy of the ruleset (originally 1 char per account) and having not been merged nor transfers to.
On alla people tend to suggest going for Povar or Stromm if restarting at level 1.
Joining a guild is a good idea, you should be able to find some lowbie-friendly on any given server.
Sign up for premium to get rid of the ads. Note its free to do so this month on a Trialbasis.
Look up Rhaah, Craawl, Swath, or GArsee of Pravus Mentis. Small family guild, but would love to have you on FV. Snail is right, Pover and Stromm do seem more new player ( low level) friendly, but if you want to stay on FV, hit me with a tell and I will bring you aboard

Ok I started as a warrior in Qeynos, on Povar...so what do I do now? I am only around third level...but would love to have a part in a guild. Any help?
Do a who all for Lucky Insane. They take youngins and will help out. We are a smaller guild right now, used to be very large. Arren is the guild leader.
Or just shout out that you are returning player looking for a guild.
