For some reason I can't find any information on the FV server, is there a link I'm missing on the EQ page?

If I remember right, no drop items are droppable... But what else is different?

They have a trivial loot code, no loot if mob doesnt give exp, and there is only one toon per account.
In addition there is no common tongue so most folks have to learn human, which is the default language.

Actually, now you can have 3 per account. I am currently on this server, and I really like the atmosphere. ( I am also playing n 51/50, but only a little)

The prices of things can be high ( higher than Zek, for sure) but the people that I have met have been really cool.

Look up Rhaah or Craawl if you decide to check it out...would be happy to help in any way.

Actually, majority of the player base speaks Elvish. There's also 3 slots instead of 1 now. There's also no more trivial loot, as I'm able to farm tradeskill items from gray mobs.

Well gee they keep changing the rules on me!

I do think however that trade skill items may have been exempt from the loot code in the beginning?
Can someone else confirm that trivial loot code is not active?
When I played on it the default language was human, Didnt play on it a lot.

There is no Trival loot code any longer. It interfered with quests. I can't remember if it interfered with tradeskill items.

Here's the Knowledge Base Article regarding FV, which is out of date.

I will also confirm that the trivial loot code has been absent for years now. Most items are NOT no trade. You can have 3 characters. There is no common language, but Elvish is the standard. There are no transfers to/from the server (unless they changed it to allow transfers to). Bind Affinity is also restricted for all characters to locations where melee characters can bind on other servers.

Here are a couple threads/websites you can visit for more information:

Ok just change the date of my first post in this thread to July 5, 2002.

I knew I should have left the answer to some who actually plays there now.

You should pop on over and give it a try, generally a VERY friendly server :)

Thanks all :)

What about required / recommended levels on items? Do they exist on FV?

Yes, they definitely exist and are the same across all servers. That being said, there are a lot of excellent twink items (if you can find/afford them) with no required level. For Example: Diamond-Tipped War Javelin

Also for your information, while items tagged "attunable" exist, the label is essentially meaningless on FV since the item remains tradeable regardless.

So you can trade an augmented weapon or piece of gear, eh?

Aye, most augments are tradeable as well as augged items.

Here's a short (and vastly incomplete) list of no trade items:

Epics,
various epic quest pieces;
Most/all LoN loot;
A lot of items/rewards/quest pieces obtained/looted via large quest arcs (i.e. face aug, dark soul crystal, Dain Aug, etc.);
Special or limited time quest rewards (i.e. LL augs, Brick of Knowledge, cloth cap, Bone Mask of Horror);
Numerous items obtained via reward claiming (i.e. scepter of draconic calling)
Tradeskill Trophies;
Some DON Progression Quest pieces and Don Faction crystals;
Various Raid progression items;
And numerous other random items.

I've been foolin around a bit on FV and it is interesting, from the point of view of a "different" EQ experience. Oddities like when you equip an attunable item you still get the warning window but the item is still tradeable even after you equip it. Plus I saw the highest-priced item ever, someone asking 11 million plat for a warrior 1-hander!

Since all augments are tradeable, bunches of them on the market. Weird seeing augments that I spent hours camping for listed for sale...

While FV has a rep for high prices, this isn't really true. Most of the gear sold on other servers sells for LESS on FV because the stuff that's no-drop on other servers can be traded on FV hence flooding the market with goods.

Alchemists can make out here since my experience so far is that potions can be hard to find, especially more offbeat pots like regen, lev and see-invis.

I have to admit at lower levels it seems harder to find groups than on other servers. Even the hot zones at lower levels are mostly empty. A popular zone like Velks has at most 9 players in it and often no more than 2-4. Guilds aren't recruiting much from what I can tell: the guild bulletin board is considerably smaller than those I've seen on other servers.

I thought that the recommended/required level qualifiers still work like on other servers. But I just ran into a level 60 player who was using a weapon with a level 70 requirement. He admitted it didn't give him any stats but he claimed it was hitting at its full 20dmg/20delay value and clearly he was doing a lot of damage with it. So maybe the "required" qualifier doesn't apply to a weapon's damage output??

I'm going to test this since I bought a level 85 required weapon even tho my toon is only 55. It was a good deal and I wanted to give myself an incentive to level up! I already know I can equip it (the slot shows yellow) but I didn't bother to try since I assumed it would operate as a crappy "1-dmg" item. We shall see!

Even though you can equip it, you won't get any stats or procs from it. Its like using a rusty shortsword.
