Its true the population has dropped in the last few years but the lowered population of Pok is due mostly to the fact that buff timers no longer tick in the guild lobby so everyone hangs out in there instead of pok. i can only speak for my server Antonius Bayle but the population on there is just nice you can find a group easily enough and the population is low enough for good players to stand out and be noticed. If you decide to start on a new server then consider bayle and if you do come over give me a shout and i can help you get started.

Biggest thing I see in todays EQ is social. People aren't as friendly as they use to be. I guess society as a whole though has become indifferent and rude due to cell phones and the internet. I buff toons all the time, most times they don't even acknowledge you are there. A lot peps have given up on pickup groups due to negative experiences in the past. Most toons just keep to their small circle of friends and rarely leave the circle.

also maybe due to too much zones around including instance zones... alot of folks seems to be scattered all over... i know for sure in Quellious its very busy with alot of pick up raids to join... and yes alot of changes happened and with the merc system alot of folks rather play alone than play along hehehe

Everyone's mileage varies but I buff players and get lots of positive feedback. I make a point of trying to form pickup groups and rarely run into problems; in fact, it's usually a pleasant experience and I've had friendships continue well after the initial pickup group contact.

You get out what you put into something, especially when it involves people. I think as a rule those who make friends quickly in a social game like EQ are those that freely help others, give free ports or even just free advice, buff others without expectation of compensation and just generally act NICELY.

How often do you hear a noob or a new returnee ask a question in general chat and NOBODY responds? I always try to but so many times the player asking the question gets NO RESPONSE. Hey, that works well to make him/her feel welcomed, eh?

Not to pick on one server, but since it's PVP, what the heck! What amazed me about the Zek server, when I used to play there, was that not only does nobody buff for free, back then it was the ONLY server that I ever played on where the buffing classes would specify the PRICE of their buffs AND EXPECT PAYMENT UP FRONT! Of course, I admit that was a few year's back but I haven't played on Zek since so I have no idea if that's changed. But I could see where any noob foolish enough to start on Zek in those days would think that nobody nice plays EQ. ;)

WoW you port Sippin awesome, on xegony donating 1kpp for a port is met with silence. I enjoy giving away gear that I can't use. I sent tells to toons all the time asking if you need a linked item. A lot of times I don't get a reply at all.

that really makes me sad, i remember when eq was still friendly, yeah you had your idiots that gaffed people off, and of course there will always be noobs, but back then there were so many people on it diddnt matter , i guess i was kinda thrown for a loop when i got on expecting the same bustleing comunity just to find an almost post apocolyptic amount of survivors, i honestly panicked a bit when i tried to find people from my old guild, Knights Desires, i had at least hopped to find some remnants, but i couldnt get a hold of Heffery, Tenera, or Berttoh, but i guess they left with the others, for now i guess ill haunt AB, e marr is holds to many fond memories for me to bear playing on its corpse of its former self...

And back in the old days there were no bugs in the game, everyone enjoyed working hard for their loot and there were no kill stealers either. Oh, and the servers were up 24/7 with a weekly double xp bonus lasting for 7 days. >.<
