Getting over the hump to 80Follow

Well, my account is down right now but I plan on renewing it fairly soon. When I do that, I think I want to get my two 70s (70 wiz, and 72-73 mage) to level 80, but I have no idea how or where would be the fastest.

Right now my wizard has no AA except for Run4, and my mage only has 100 or so. Should I stay at the current levels and grind out another hundred or so on them in PoFire? What would be the best way for my wizard to solo there? I do fine with a merc, but I get almost twice as much solo... But I end up using 20% of my mana per kill and close to 40% of my hp. My mage is in a similar situation, fine with merc but since mages mostly have fire-based spells, I'm not doing so well.

That aside, where can I take them (Separately, same account) to level up? I had tried vald on my wiz, but seeing as everything was red I was too afraid to attack anything. And my mage has been grinding away at the farm, but oh my lord I am getting sick of that fast... Stacking tasks, burning lotd is a great way to get 30-40% xp in an hour but it's SO BORING.

Slow down and get some aa's. You're going to find getting aaxp harder and harder the higher you level (generally speaking). 70-75ish are great levels with tons of content available to crank out some aa's.

In my opinion, you should at least be over 500aa's by the time you hit 80. But to each his own.

Splitpaw, MPG, RSS, 69.1's or nest missions should all yield pretty good xp and a nice change of pace from the farm. There are also some decent camps in Direwind & Inner Vergalid that would be good xp and also the chance to get some 71-75 spells.

Another idea is to start working the hand aug quests in TBS.

Definitely get some more AA's. Will make the regular levelling much easier. Not sure you need 500 but at least 200 and they won't take long.

What server you on? Have you tried getting groups? Wiz is a decent solo class but if you want to level both toons you'd be better off boxing them in a group. With 2 dps toons and your merc, you've got half a group already signed up! I wouldn't think you'd have a hard time getting other players to join.

One of the developers stated higher expansions (SoF) are designed for toons with 500 AA. Slow down please and get your core AAs at least through omens. The higher you level the more you have to venture into higher expansions to grind out AA. It seems that depths of darkhollow mobs have around 50 % more hps than omens mobs. Then you move into higher group TSS zones that have even more hps and hit even harder. Omens and PoP zones are great places to grind out AA with good kill rates at 70.

Thanks all, I think I will slow down... I have a few more questions though:

1) What are 69.1 and nest missions?
2) What would be the best way to solo on my wizard? I was using my ice snare and kiting in the hallways in PoFire (At c1), but that almost got me killed... Should I try to use my aoe snare, and solo kite like that? Or is quadding still an option

Also, I've started the hand aug quest on my wizard (Friend helped me kill the two rare goblins), but not sure what to do... Everything I've seen so far is either red or high yellow.

I wish, but they're on different servers and the same account :(

69.1 Mission
Nest missions are DoN missions in the Accursed Nest zones. These are obtained Lavastorm Mtns.

I have no clue on soloing a Wiz.

I've played both a druid and wiz to 85 and quadding is one of their core strengths, something unavailable to all other classes!

It's easier on a druid, though, since druids get a nice variety of snares, including the 14+ minute long ENsnare. I used to quad at tables and it was a blast... risky to some extent but fun. I had a wizard friend who quadded at tables as well and did great although he'd have to reapply his snares much more often than I did plus he had to watch out for not snaring himself.

The powers at EQ do NOT like quadding; that's why they haven't upgraded most of the aoe spells needed to do this. I was quadding polar bears in Icefall when that expansion first came out but it was more to prove it was still possible. It took so long to kill 4 of those beasts with our quad dd's that root-rot became more efficient. But wizzys don't get dots and it's best to leave the tedious rotting to necros and shammies. :)

Are there any lavastorm missions that I can do solo or with a merc? It's so hard to find groups on my wiz, and no one wants to do them anymore.

Also, where else can I go with my wiz to grind out AAs?

Have you tried Dragonscale Hills, and the various quests there (including the daily quests.) They are quick and easy to do, and if you can get the farm, you could move along quickly.

I guess the original post was tl;dr?

Stay where you are, level wise. As several others have said, you're in the sweet spot for AAxp right now. If you rush to 80, you WILL regret it.

For my own characters, I have a rule of thumb I recently decided on. From the moment they hit 70, they must roll up 100 AA before I'll level them any further. The reasons for that are myriad but I saw the difference with my warriors. I have a 75 warrior with like 1500 AA and a 73 warrior with like 4. The difference in performance is SO easily apparent, the 73 isn't going to see another drop of level xp until she breaks 500 AA. Same gear, same augs (by and large), but it's just sick how different they play. I also have a pair of mages in a similar position. One with 863 AA at 71 and one that just hit 71 but has 24 AA. Night and day. And let's not even talk about the Wizards (72 with ~1100 AA, recently turned 71 with 11).

I rarely solo my wizards (and never use mercs) but some of the spots I've done:

- treants and bears in Loping Plains, right by the druid ring
- cats, bears, and crap at the bridge in Icefall
- Deathcallers in Direwind (okay, that was with the Paladin)
- trash near the Gorukar zone line in Sunderock
- Dranik's Scar instances

Granted, I've found things move MUCH faster in a DPS heavy group (tank, priest, 4 DPS or replace 1 DPS with a bard for the force multiplier effect) but I dunno if those are available all the time.

The undead mercs in Wall of Slaughter is a good solo camp for your wizard to get AA's (and another level or 2). I would get to 100 AA's then level to 72 before getting another 100 and then I would go to 75. Somewhere around 72 and 200 AA's you should be able to solo at the greenhouse in Katta for really good AA exp (and decent level exp). Make sure and look up the quests for Herb Retrieval and one where you kill 20 shissar. Bond yourself at the hill above the greenhouse area and then you can port to zone in to update tasks and gate back to camp.

Try not to spend the entire time solo. Go to Vald and OOC LFG. Get in a group, this is supposed to be a grouping game and you'll enjoy it better if you make friends with some good players.

Just my 2c.
