Defiant armor is too powerful for a returning casual player. Look to the bazaar for casual armor more suited to grow in. A lot of times you can find these items dirt cheap due to the defiant overshadowing.
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=32141 is a good example of an item to grow in. Try to stay away from your merc, it really makes the game trivial.
Strange... I thought SOE brought out defiant armor and the jewelery items available in POK to help the returning players level up so they too could catch up to their friends and enjoy the game in a group. Mercs were brought out because of the lack of clerics in the game, it's the largest selling point of the SOD expansion and you want this returning player to just ignore the existance of defiant gear and mercs for what purpose exactly?
I can't believe you would suggest to someone to wear armor that comes from a mob in Omens of War. Other than epics, imo, that entire expansion is a waste of time for the under conned mobs, crap loot. Clearly you never noticed the fact that purhaps
Ornate Defiant Chain Tunic might just exceed and reach it's maximum potential long before your suggestion of
Dark Muramite Chainmail.
Seriously, it's going to be hard enough for a returning shammy to get into groups at a low level due to the greed factor of others not needing a healer that loots in their group, could we please refrain from suggesting to them to use gimp gear that is obsolete? I just don't understand your logic that gear is too powerful. That makes no sense. It's not like handing a rookie motorcycle rider a 1500 cc bike and say have at it and then they kill themselves because it was too powerful... it's quite the opposite - defiant gear will keep them more protected than the paper bag you suggest.
