was reading the post and comments for the new "50/51" server and I saw an admin and a few other poster comment on old school eq. And I started thinking, why instead of just agreeing or ********* or talking about back in the day, we formulate and organize a petition from the EQ community and try to get soe to open a classic server. Not progression, just classic. And I was thinking eq up to luclin only. Maybe, MAYBE PoP.
What do you guys think? Worth trying? Can't hurt to.
Did you actually
read the dev responses to those whines? The "classic" code
doesn't even exist anymore. So what you're asking for is for SOE to essentially rewrite EQ....just so you can have a server you'll ('you' in the general sense) "take a break from" every 6 months. But here's how to get it done:
1) Everyone who votes on the poll has to contribute $5,000
2) If the measure passes, everyone who contributed $5,000 has to sign up for at least a 3 year subscription, upfront.
3) Everyone who contributed $5,000 and signed up for a 3 year subscription, has to bring in at least 2 friends who do the same.
That'll make it more likely that you'll get what you want. Message board whines are notoriously hollow. People threaten to quit, and never do. People say they'll play, and never do. When it comes down to it, money talks, BS walks. Put up or shut up, your wallet has more pull/influence/stroke than you as an individual do, etc. This isn't some class whine about abilities. This is demanding that a corporation spend hundreds of thousands of dollars....just to appease you and your small subset of compatriots. There's no profit in that, because six months into the server's life, it'll be a ghost town because people, as much as they'd like to think differently, are soft now. There are many people on those threads who wouldn't be able to hack it (and anyone with a little life experience can see the truth in that). The idea sounds great, until you actually lose a corpse to a "friend" who loots all your stuff and logs.
Yes, it's a crazy idea. Let it go.
