I don't call the bumping of surveys as necro posting. I look at it as updating. With that said, I may rate down the folks doing it.

Bumping relevant surveys is one thing .. lucid shards is necro from the neck up.

My question is:

Why do you even care?

Someone can't read back a few pages of threads and find something new to say about an old subject?

I can understand useless necro posting such as the Lucid Shard poll, which almost no one anymore knows what camps you're talking about.

But posting a post just to say "Necro posting is bad mmm'kay?"? That is just as useless as the Lucid Shard Poll.

Let people read and post what they want...

even if it's from 5 years ago.

I fall on both sides of the issue and down the middle. On the one hand, yes, people should be able to post and regurgitate ('er resurrect) whatever they want, but on the other hand, generally the topics are out of date, and irrelevant, and simply reminessing, without offering anything new that wasn't already said way back then, in previous posts of the same thread.

So yea, people should be able to, but they really should think long and hard about what they're doing before they do it. Even this post I'm only reluctant to post, because, I'm not really offering up much in the way of information, but I hope a little clarification at least, but probably not that either.

OK yen, I see you trying to hijack the op. Now thats almost as bad as necro posting.
Besides which someone is leaving the game no use buttering him up.

That's legitimate. However, do you really think that was happeneing? Reading back a "few pages" and coming up with polls from 4 years ago? And adding in trivial informaiton like I have the key on 8 toons is worthy of resurrecting thread?

Because it clutters up the first page with worthless things.

Some people have too much time on their hands, and/or enjoy ********* Having said that, this is nothing but a useless pharm thread anyway...

I wonder how long we can keep it alive? When does posting in a useless thread actually qualify as necro-posting?

Reyla could keep changing the thread title, and it could become the weekly blue plate special useless thread, or something similar. Useless surpise bites? And if no posts for a while, when it could become the refried roadkill surprise special?

We don't need no stinking Jophiel to explain necro posting. We need Gbaji! Yeah he can explain it all, tie it into a government conspiracy, (or is that hangtennow?) and keep it going for a long time.
