Is it true now Ranger >> ROG/BER??Follow

#1 Apr 21 2009 at 10:47 PM Rating: Decent
Lots ppl(on Sony EQ forum) said that nowaday Ranger has greater DPS power than ROG/BER,anyone knows how this happen??I mean, even tho I have a 80 Ranger myself,I just dont get it how come Ranger can beat ROG in raid??I know nothing about BER but isnt ROG get double Backstab at high level??Besides ROG share lots melee AA with Ranger and they have some unique skills in addition. The only way Ranger can beat ROG in DPS game is Melee+Nuke(ok,its just my opinion.my main is MAG and Ranger might get something big at 85) plus the NPC cannot be resistant or Nuke will just lower Ranger's power.
So,I know there must be something Im not aware of between Ranger and ROG.Anyone can share the wisdom here??So far,I can only think of << ATK buff, better weapon weapon ratio >> as Ranger's advantage. What else would make Ranger the best melee DPS in game??Discuss..

Nope ROg is still and usually best dps. Monk and Zaerker can match them.
Yes rangers have improved.

Yes it's true that Rangers have come up in DPS lately. We have some good AA's to click for some good burst damage, and we can (usually) sustain dps better than monks (although, they will almost always beat us out in short bursts).

Rogues have nothing else in their repetiore(sp) except DPS, so if Rangers were out dpsing them even I would be concerned for their class.

Zerkers are also in the same boat, having close to zero utility, but able to boost others dps along with their own. They ARE dps. Pure and simple.

Another thing to consider (especially on raid parses) is who is grouped with who. If a ranger gets in a group with a shaman, rogue, zerker, and bard, then yes that ranger will most likely parse higher than another ranger on the same raid, even if they are comparable gear/aa-wise.

I have parsed as high as 5th on some of our raids, but there is NO WAY (repeat: NO WAY) that I will ever outdps our #1 rogue who is always grouped with the zerker, shammy, and bard (and not even as high as said zerker). Usually one of us rangers gets lucky and gets into this "dps group". That ranger parses high for those events.

The way I see the melee dps hierarchy:
Rogue > Zerker > Monk > Ranger

Does it bother me that I'm not top dps? Hell no. I have more utility than all those classes combined, and am just glad that I CAN come close to those other classes' melee dps. Not to mention that I can take a hit better than the lot of them too. Seems fair to me.

At a high-end raid level with relatively equal gear, Rangers are still below ROGs BERs and even Monks in my experience.

Having said that, it's rare that everyone is in equal gear and thus there tends to be a lot of variation in the upper end parses.

Ranger in my guild out-dps's me(rog) and the other rog's and zerkers 99.9% of the time on burn fights. End game equipped for all of us.

On a long raid fight, Beastlords are higher then all. They have more of a constant DPS, others have more of burst dps. All were geared equally, and all were high end geared.
Now if its a shorter raid fight then thats a different story.

Eh??
Beastlord!!!
How does that happen??I have played a BST to 60 before,I know they have better weapons than most melee classes(same as monk) but their offensive skills are worse than others, right??Lower Dual wield/Double attack/Triple attack...etc.Any other abilities make them good DPS in a long fight??

Beastlord must have a warder to do damage that puts it into high dps counts.
Beastlord is a pet class not a dps class.
