Festive Doll-ValueFollow

#1 Apr 10 2009 at 6:05 AM Rating: Excellent
Even when I played a long time ago I never understood the money value of the Festive Doll. On my Server it is going from 4,000p to 10,000p.

They even made it easier to get one than when I played before as the only traveling is to the Nexus vendor and get it for free.

So, when time let me know why the value of these is so high.

Thanks

These are the same scoundrels that put a 10pp pok vendor spell on their trader for 1k pp.

Well, in the past people would hold onto them from the anniversery events and sell them after the events ended. Which is fair enough. I suppose people try selling them during the events just to capture the unwary.

Why anyone pays thousands of platinum for a stat item with no AC/hp/mana in the first place is beyond me. I've never had any use for the Dolls on any but my most newbie of characters. Soon enough I come across a range item that has more base hitpoints than the +15 STA provides (or mana than the Wis/Int, etc).

If there was not a market for the dolls then Traders would eventually remove from the one of eighty spaces.
I have my main toon, a low level PvP toon, My main Trader Armourcarr, and four more toons that my kids made and eventually move to wow (I have since disowned them J/K) so I use those as Warehouse toons. Each one plus shared bank have a doll now. One is kept on trader for 1k and so far I have sold three during this anniversary. After end of event I will raise the price to 5k and when I am down to the last one will probably rise to 7k. I have seen dolls as high as 15k. For A low level toon it has nice stats. And for close combat to have set in Bandolier on a click will add the stats. I agree Jophiel that defiant bow with stats or other nice range item would be better in Range but depends on the class that is being played. You would be surprised what sells. Example and was mentioned in the other doll thread. My trader has both water, and gremlin smoke jerky to keep the "out of food and drink" from spamming me while I am running around. But they are kept in a Trader Satchel and both items can be bought from merchant down stairs in bazaar. But I must sell about 40 of each a week? Bazaar and traders work just like real life. Players are lazy and would rather pay a price then zone in and out to hunt for an item. But I sell a lot of items because of convenience.

Capitalism. Now, whether you think it's profiteering is immaterial. The market has a way of "finding its own level". Therefore, if people are buying these items at "insane" price points, the market will then adjust its price to the level of those insane prices. Now, people might say that these prices are taking advantage of the unwary but others might rebut that hard lessons chide the unwary into becoming more wary.

"A foole and his money be soone at debate: which after with sorrow repents him too late." - Thomas Tusser

Something's material value is determined by the buyer, not the seller. The item in question is crap (especially now with the introduction of defiant range items...from a vendor). So if people still want to buy these things, that's on them. Don't hate the player, hate the game. Smiley: smile

One can choose not to play the game.

Now me I have my festive dolls on most toons, and in each shared bank. Ill post them for around 2k after the season.

Every anniversary that I've been around for, if I see anyone selling the festive doll in general chat, I always always always make sure to point out that you can get one for free in the Nexus. As for selling after the event is over, there's nothing I can do. :(

and that is your right Miss Jackie,
but like in the other thread regarding doll where I was called a scum and cheating old people out of their life savings..is wrong and I WILL respone and easily Defend myself.
I sell "Vials of Swiriling Smoke" https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=2586 for 1900p...they can be bought in PoT for 1050 and this vendor has unlimited supply or some city potion vendors have also...but only 2 every RL week. They come in handy on a PK server. and when I advertise them on General Chat, Zek I get that they can be bought in PoT all the time...and you know what...I still sell two a day... it is convenience. So in my opinion, shouting that something is Free or can get somewhere else is just feeding your own ego thinking you are doing something good. Unless you private tell the guy that they are FREE and how to get them or like I told Broomsticker in other thread....Given them yours and get another for FREE if you really want to make an impression.

There was a time when the Festive dolly gave me a nice stat boost for trade-skilling, no more though.
They are still hogging my bank space, lol.
