I'm trying to make a Prepared Runic Hide.
When I put the required items (Lye (1)Raw Runic Hide (1) Runic Hide Solution (1)) in my spell research kit I get the error "You cannot combine these items in this container type."
Any help?

I do have serpent's Spine and my research is 54.

To find out if you can use any combination conainer, try Ctrl+Right-clicking it and see if the search / favorites window comes up ... either it will, or you'll get an error message about not being able to use that container.

After you recheck your components again ( Spell Research Kit, Lye, Runic Hide Solution, Raw Runic Hide ), try the Ctrl+Right-clicking and search for something like stiff hide and if prepared stiff hide comes up. If it does, and you're sure you have the right components for runic version, then it's probably a bug and a /bug report will help.

To be absolutely sure, you have the right components, you can use /outputfile inventory MyStuff.txt and open the MyStuff.txt file in your base everquest directory, and check the item numbers:
93492 Spell Research Kit
97825 Lye
97832 Runic Hide Solution
97863 Raw Runic Hide

My first guess, you don't have one of the items. Is it a RAW runic hide?

Second guess it's broke. Talk to N'greth or post on eqtraders forum.

Just checked an it is working for me (I wondered if it might have had something to do with todays class titles!)

Only think I can think is :

1) You do only have one of each item not stacked in the research kit ?

2) You do not have anything else you do not need in the kit.

Once you have learned a recipe and can make it from the CTRL Right CLK and it comes up on your list of recipes it does not matter where the items are in your inventory nor what else you have in the kit.

Before then, when your are "learning" a recipe and making it in "experiment" mode, you have to have the exact ingredients non stacked and with nothing esle in the container.

Elementary my dear Watson! When you eliminate the impossible the improbable, no matter how unlikely is the answer.

Had the same thing happen to me when I first started on alchemy with my shaman.

Research isn't restricted to INT anymore. Every piece of research item out there in the game hasn't been updated to say ALL. Just because it has INT classes on the item, doesn't mean a Priest can't use it. With the last expansion, research is now available to all classes.

Thats not stricktly true MissJackie

Priest/Hybrid/Melee research is very restriscted, mostly I think it was introduced as a way for them to be able to research their tombs so although yes research has been opened up it by no means unrestricted across all classes.

You are correct though that the restriction with wiz/int casters having restrictions on some class specific spells was removed.

I only say this because I would hate for some warrior or monk out there to embark on a career in research thinking they could research anything. They cannot.

Well yeah.. Priests can only research priests, hybrids only hybrids, etc. INT can research anything. I'm not sure if everyone is aware that they are able to research their own spells/tomes (up to TSS, I think).

Even more important, is the restrictions, which make non-int research skill up paths very expensive. The inexpensive paths, the Int-casters can take are not available to other classes. And also, Int-casters can't make tomes, only melee / hybrids can.

I was hoping it would be easy to have made, or skil up enough to make myself, the tomes, but due to the restrictions, neither is very likely. I still haven't heard of any tome researchers with high skill on Tunare yet, although I've seen some on Druzzil.
