Few things:
Take your time: it is called EVERquest

Start on a Blue server: Any server except Zek...it can be cruel there.

Stay in Tutorial: stay there and learn all you can by talking and doing what the NPCs tell you.

Join General Chat: Type /join General in your tell window. Listen and watch for someone who seems knowlegable. then talk to them in private tell /t <players name>

That should get you started in discovering your New World, New Charactor and New "Fun" Game. and remember that the computer will be there in the morning unless you get fustrated and Break it. lol

Welcome to EQ!

Go to http://www.mapfiend.net/mappacks . Click the all maps circle then download map pack. Unzip the files to the program files\sony\everquest\maps directory. Now go to maps folder to see if the maps are in there. Hit the back space key to bring up the maps in game. Right under the Arrow keys in top right map is a group button. Click this to see you group members move.

Welcome. To EVVVEERRRRQQQQUEESt. Though not a lot of folks are still questing.
Besides the sticky thread reyla showed you look at the one just below it. The one with the words useful information.
Now reread it, stick to the tutorial, as already advised, and play around with different toons. If you join povar you will find me there. You will also find the guild Lucky Insane which is now a small non raiding guild but has lots of stuff in the guild bank. It's also full of folks who have been playing for years.
