TASK: Peace and Understanding - Quellious' Favor
GIVEN BY: Avatar of Quellious the Tranquil in Plane of Tranquility (building near PoEarth zone in)
OBJECTIVE: As the champion of Quellious, the Tranquil, you are charged with spreading peace throughout the lands of Norrath.

REWARD: Celebratory Fireworks Caster (only if this is the first diety task you have completed), Potion of Adventure II, Fireworks Focus of Quellious, platinum (scales to level, 540pp at 73), EXP, the choice between seven different distillates (scales to level) and Shiny New Class I Collapsable Roboboar (only if this is the 16th diety task you have completed)

STEPS: (use the Quellious' Wand of Tranquility you received)

1. Find a way to distract Nettle from his mission -- Misty Thicket (loc -703 355, SW from ZI), right-click wand (you will receive a stack of 20 pies)
2. Calm the rowdy halflings with the power of Pie -- Misty Thicket (give the pies to "An Angry Farmer", should be near Nettle; you can give each farmer four pies for a total of four updates!)
3, Bring peace to an angry citizen -- Crescent Reach (target is Atler Flamejabber in the Council Chambers area on the 2nd floor)
4. Calm two agitators and send them home -- Shadow Haven (/loc +323, -110, targets are "a drunken Fordel miscreant" and "a drunken Midst miscreant")
5. Speak with the Avatar of Quellious -- Plane of Tranquility

Dialogue for Step 1:

"Hail, Nettle Higglesbury"

Nettle Higglesbury says "Hello to you! Would you like to join our [fight] against the goblins?"

"What fight?"

Nettle Higglesbury says "They slink in at night and ruin our crops! They attack our supplies of timber and honey! They..they smell bad! And I am going to put a stop to it!"

After you have him targeted and click Quellious' wand:

Nettle Higglesbury says "Is...is that pie I smell?"

You get a stack of 20 pies after a brief flourish.

Nettle Higglesbury says "I'm getting a little hungry here, how about all of you?"
An angry farmer says "I know I am!"
An angry farmer says "Yeah!"
An angry farmer says "I know I am!"
An angry farmer says "Who isn't?"
Nettle Higglesbury says "Okay, okay, first pie, then freedom!"

At this point hand out the pies (Nettle himself won't take one, he'll just give it back.) You need to do 10 pies out of the stack of 20 you got. One small wrinkle: there are only 8 angry farmers, so you have to wait (or at least I did) for a respawn, which only took about 5 minutes.

(note: You can actually hand each farmer four pies, and get four updates!)

Atler Flamejabber says "No one in this city wants to do anything with me. Fix it!"
Atler Flamejabber says "The bakers burned some bread and the whole place smells awful now. They should be fired!"
Atler Flamejabber says "The council's still conducting their business after all my shouting. Was I not communicating my points clearly?"

When you click him with the wand:

Atler Flamejabber says "Well, I suppose my demands are awfully self-centered. Maybe if they get done with the items that affect everyone they can get to me....."
Atler Flamejabber says "I'll write a letter I suppose."

And off he goes.

The agitators are at p323 n110 in Shadowhaven. One is "a drunken Fordel miscreant" and the other is "a drunken Midst miscreant"...

I am so disappointed.

10 years ago, as a former roleplayer I picked Quellious to worship in large part because the concept art for the game showed a young, chubby, cheerful child of color as the avatar. Throughout the years, when Planes of Power came along, I fantastized about a raid in which to defeat Quellious instead of brutally slaughtering the god, one had to kill avatars that were causing the child to have a tantrum or something silly like that because they took her toys or something fun like that (a tantrum in which players were damaged by thrown toys, whining sounds, and all those things consistent with children ;). I was disappointed when they decided not to create a raid for Quellious as part of PoP, but understood that it was consistent with the original idea (you can't really go around killing a child and since the designers were all young men designing for a target audience of young men, I can see why their vision didn't go outside the box where raids are concerned.) But I was happy that at least there was a zone - Plane of Tranquility in her honor.

So imagine my excitement when I hear that, at long last, Quellious is in the game. 10 years waiting to meet one's chosen deity is a long time!

Today I go finally to meet my goddess - the first representation of Quellious in the game after 10 years - give her a hug. Maybe take her a cookie or muffin. I run all the way to the edge of PoT only to find not the original representations of the Goddess of Peace and Tranquility, but a skinny blonde chick with a braid who has some sort of mist around her that I guess is supposed to be a peaceful golden aura. This NPC is not even remotely the same as what Quellious was originally, visually or emotionally. Every other God's avatar resembles what it always has been envisioned as, from what I can tell. But not Quellious. She's gone from an innocent representation of the peace and joy in all of us to a boring *** grown-up with a bad bleach job sitting on her ***. =(

I'm doing the quest, but my heart's just not in it as much as it would have been had the orig. Why, oh why, did they abandon one of the most creative visions for a Goddess of Norrath? =(
