Housing? in EverquestFollow

#1 Mar 09 2009 at 3:00 PM Rating: Decent
Why can't the developers make housing in the guild hall. The upstairs area lends itself nicely to zones to individual apartments.
I want my own space :)

I would like to see Housing added to EQ. That on offline trading are two missing elements.. but it is and always will be the best MMO out there

Yup, I and the friends I group with in EQ would like to see housing implemented. Use the EQII housing model for EQ in the Guild Hall and Cities. Add a new crafting skill for making furniture, new quests, and loot.

This is what I suggested in the in-game survey (I still think that is still going on, /survey I think).

Players have been asking for this since EQ came out.

FFXI has housing, Morrowind had a house. I think it would great to have one and add things to it.

Houses? really....I can understand asking for perhaps more functionality out of the guild hall, but I think I want developer's time spent in a more productive manner than adding player housing.

What for? Not that I have a problem with it. I tinkered with EQII for a while, and it had character housing. I know a lot of people were excited about it. I just didn't ever figure out why it was appealing...

I like the idea if I can fill it with bankers. Lots and lots of bankers. I save way too much stuff.

I agree with Miss Mandie. I dont want the coders busy with houses, I want the coders busy with new bank space.

Besides with population base, why bother with housing, you probably could have your own zone to yourself. LOL
Nice grassy hills with shrubberies lining the walk way.

While I too think the Devs' time would be better spent elsewhere, I can see the attraction to player houses or rooms. It would be a keen idea to allow more customization of the Guild Halls and thus, allowing temporary invitations to non-guild mates so they can see it somehow. Guests would of course NOT have access to the Guild Bank.

Of course, this might open up a wave of bugs and crashing in the Guild Halls, so...

If you want housing and decorations for your house etc, Hello Kitty's Island Adventure may be more your speed.

absolutely not housing, the time to develop that could be better spend on more bank space, or offline trading or fixing those quests I have been waiting to finish for 10 years because they always been broken.

What you need your own space for anyways? there are whole zones empty

Some people just enjoy decorating. I'd love to see housing in EQ1 as well, but would love to see our bank space extended first. Running out of space does kinda suck.

When I heard they were making guild halls I imagined it would be a zone with all the guild halls side by side or spread out over the country side. I imagined you could go into other GH's and take a look around or just visit with a friend.

While GH's are useful I think they kinda cheesed on them. It seems odd to me that being EQ is such a social game they would have made GH's a place to hide out from other people.

Unfortunately, the business model for Sony is "lets see how to keep them happy without spending too much time, money or effort". That's the impression I get whenever a dev says "we can't do that, too much code work involved". Thats why we won't see bigger bags, bigger banks, more inventory space, offline selling, player housing, etc.

To store my sh...stuff. You think dev time would be better spent coming up with 80 storage slots (8 new slots w/ 10slot bags) or fixing quests only 4 people in the entire game give a flip about. I think it would be easier to market the addition of player housing. No one's going to pick up EQ because you now have 8 more bank slots or the Blued TwoHanded Hammer quest works now.

You want something that would be marketable and appeal to lots of people? Quest hubs and instanced single group content (like LDoN but with faction and transferability between expansions). So you do missions in the new expansion areas and depending on which theme you do, you can gain faction with say Combine merchants or TBS pirates or Ak'Anon Strike Force or whatever. The points you earn can be converted at a predetermined rate to Orum, crystals, faycites or what-have-you.

But neither is going to happen as it would take actual effort on the part of the dev team. So they'd have to spend almost an entire expansion cycle on it to the detriment of the rest of the expansion (see: mercs & SoD).

That is my take on it. They were to busy throwing together the next expansion to bother thinking things out or spending the time to make it a quality game.

Id rather see them make our personal banks look/work like the guild bank, I mean there are over 600 zones atm and 599 are completely empty, more " space " we dont need.

we do need:

1. updated player models
2. updated spells ie; complete heal is no longer a complete heal for anyone over level 45
3. better inventory management
4. revemp of loot and older zones or the questing abilty to turn your short sword of yakshka into something passable.
5. more progressive soloable content for those of us who cant raid ( im 3rd shift and there is NOTHING happening when I can play.

thats all I got for now, off to work,

Safe Hunts and Rare Drops!

I would prefer the Devs work on other parts of the game. Housing is what made Asheron's call start to go downhill.

Everybody can have their own personal Guild Hall now. Lots of bank space there. 4 of my characters are in guilds of 1 now.

Just press Alt + G.

I would love to see this. EQII has housing - why not the original EQ???? I was gone for a while and noticed that the graphics had been changed drastically. It would be great to add furniture making as a tradeskill. I don't know who wouldn't want to have their own housing. ESPECIALLY on player vs. Environment servers.

I was told that the Inns were for housing - much to my surprise I found that they were not, and I could not sit on the chair or lie on the bed. I think this is ridiculous. To avoid lag from having too many things on the server at once, I think rooms should be handled like the guild hall. You would wait for your personal room to load.

Second of all I think Guild halls should be able to have official meeting rooms, etc. Why have all the doors if you can't use any of them?

Sorry a small addendum to my earlier post - I'm thinking that personal housing esp. would be nice on Player vs, Environment servers because they are much more social, which is the whole point.
