Target the person in your group that you want to transfer ownership of your merc to. In the merc window, click the "Set Owner" button. The person you are transferring your merc to will receive a confirmation box. If they click yes, the merc will transfer to them.

No, you don't need to be the same level. I'm not sure why it wouldn't work. Maybe you'll need to /bug report it.

Amateur Unofficial Merc Set Owner Guide:

1)Must be grouped.
2)Must be in same zone.
3)The person you give it to cannot have a merc of his own.
4)The person you give it to has to have enough platinum in his inventory to cover the transfer fee.

Hmmm, is the person you're giving the merc to lower level? I think the merc cap of owner's level would keep it from being accepted by a lower level toon (as then the merc would definately be higher level than its owner)....

I think I might know what the problem is. If you are flagged for Void C, and have a Tier 3 merc, you can't give it to someone that is Void A. He doesn't have access to that Tier of a merc yet. Check to see what void access he has in comparison to what tier your merc is.

Tier 2 Journeyman merc = Void B access
Tier 3 Journeyman merc = Void C access
Tier 4 Journeyman merc = Void D access
Tier 5 Journeyman merc = Void E access

Frakizar, just for reference.

I gave my level 81 Merc to a level 2 character so that definitely works.

Foustes, that only holds true if you're doing the progression in order. In any case the journeyman mercs tier up on theme completion, and not void access. I understand what you're saying has more to do with passing ownership, and that a higher tier merc cannot get passed to someone with lower tier merc access. But just FYI, Here is the order in which I did my progression and the mercs that became available to me:

Oceangreen theme = Tier 2 Journeyman merc = Void B access
Field of Scale theme = Tier 4 Journeyman merc = Void C access
Kithicor theme = Tier 3 Journeyman merc = Void D access
Rathe theme = Tier 5 Journeyman = Void E access.

Or you can look here. =)
