Flowers for Temple in CrescentFollow

#1 Feb 16 2009 at 8:25 AM Rating: Decent
Hi,

Had my Trader up and a server message came up a couple of times telling level 20 and under to come and pick flowers for the temple.

I don't have a level 20 or below or would have jumped at doing it, no map but would have figured it out.

Do these happen now and then? if so, think might be fun and will make another toon for them.

Thanks

This was what is known as a GM event. Not all events have a level requirement. Some such as the halfing high dive require you to make a level 1 toon, others like the fishing contest maybe open to a level range.
Myself I would have shrouded to a twenty toon if I had felt like doing it.

What's a GM event? I am on Zek and just the other night there was a GM on warning a player on the use of the word **************** in general. I know he was a GM because if you do a /who all "Players name" and he is typing on general, it doesn't show up as a player in game. Way to tell if a non-titled GM is a gm. But Zek is the poor step child on EQ... <sob> No GM events except to ban (what little population we have) players for trivial things. People sell plat, PL, items and what ever, nothing really done. but say a semi bad word or pick on a terrorist religion and you get banned FAST.....I guess they get upset messing with their coffee break. Yes I have nothing nice to say about GM's. They need to get off their *** and encourage or create Events. Spark some interest in game. Would give them better creditablity when they have to come down on someone. As of now I think you become a GM as a reward or toy surprise in a cereal box.

Thanks for the input and maybe I will make a couple of low level toons this weekend so can do the events or at least a few of them.

GM events seem to be rare on Stromm and it's been a few months since I've even noticed a Guide hanging around PoK.
Last summer there was a fun GM event that started with a banker just outside the main bank in PoK who said he had been robbed and asked us to find the thief.
We ended up in Butcherblock I think it was, found the thief and got the loot back, returned to PoK and gave the banker back his bag of cash.
The rewards were some low level gear.
Unfortunately, the only ones who responded were myself (85 raid geared ranger) and a level 85 paladin, either of which could have not only beaten the event, but the GM himself.
Another time, around Christmas this year, I was hanging out in PoK in front of the lobby when I saw some odd emotes coming from a wandering gnome.
Obviously this gnome was thrilled to be visiting PoK and was asking around for a special treat, a food item.
Just as I started talking to her the server crashed and I've never heard anything else, disappointing.

Anyways, GM events are fun if you get into the spirit of the event... it's a role-playing game.

I love them and when I had left EQ years ago, there were definitely ones for the holidays during the year. I wrote in my survey about having more of them. Some of the quests drove me nuts and some I never did complete. I am big on events for all levels but then I don't have to create them. Doesnt have to be often, but are fun. As I recall the Halloween one and Xmas one had something for all levels.

They should advertise events and have more of them. Advertise as we log in, in general chat, etc. The problem with the one Sunday was it was Sunday, it seemed last minute as kind of late to do an event and not many under 20's on. if they advertise in advance then probably a better turn out.

dictionary.com is your friend:

and what did I edit? A rant on this statement

Was wondering if Viney could define "terrorist religion" as my dictionary and encyclopeadia do not list a definition for that.

Sigh!

Since some of my gray cells are still active, I do know what the word 'edit' means, however, to leave it dangling there in what I would consider a grammar void was O.O!

When you see it alone in a post, it will usually mean the author went back and removed it by erasing the content.
