which tradeskills worthwhile anymore?Follow

I'm just curious about people's opinions on some tradeskills and whether or not they seem as lucrative anymore. mind you. i am not saying that these tradeskills have no value anymore. just that the return on the investment of raising the skill seems to have dropped off.

the armor tradeskills like tailoring/smithing/seem to not be as good an investment as they used to be now that defiant armor drops like candy. cultural armor seems to have gotten much less demand. while i am not saying that it is completely phased out many more players are quite satisfied to use cultural armor and then get their gear upgrades from raiding. for those that aren't raiding defiant seems to suit them just fine as a feasible armor.

shammies seem to have gotten the shaft since there are merchants that quite kindly sell pots in pok without us having to go into bazaar and see if there are any people present selling pots at the current time we wish to make a purchase. true that shammies are able to get them for sell at a slightly lower price the demand does seem to have decreased.

jc/cooking/brewing/research/pottery still seem to have remained constant in return for the investment. jc primarily because while jewelry drops like candy also. getting to craft to your specifics esp. for a alt twink is a good incentive for many. cooking and brewing to my knowledge have not been messed with by EQ so in my opinion people will continue to buy player made food for those stat bonuses. brewing is helpful with quite a few other things. for research everyone is always in need of spells as they level and not everyone is lucky enough to get the drops needed for turn in at higher levels. there still seems to be high demands for potters.

it was just something i was thinking about while working on my tradeskills. have most of them to 200 and wondering weather i want to put the time/effort/money in to close the last 100 gap. the smithing one being the one to annoy me the most currently. running the cultural armor quests and wondering why i am bothering in doing it. I've spent a long amount of time hunting down specific creatures to make impressions in for the quests with no real people interested in getting the cultural armor that i can make. trying to decide whether i want to continue the quests or just go out and pwn stuff. :P.

Any thoughts of your own as to whether tradeskills are as strong as they once were? or think that EQ is starting to phase it out with making way too much stuff drop like candy such that player made stuff is not in demand anymore.

All tradeskills are time sinks and plat eaters.
All tradeskills can still be worth it.
Potions made by shaman are a lot cheaper than what you buy.
Cultural armor is among the best in the game.
Everyone needs to eat and drink.
Well maybe potter? Oh wait the symbols and essences needed for tailoring and cultural armor.

Just a question of what you want to do.

And remember, friends dont let friends do tradeskills.

Ok you want to make money or want to know what is needed... pretty much you have to be master in every skill.. anymore the tradeskills need all the others to work. So with that in mind make 2 characters for tradskilling a gnome(to get the tinkering-make him rogue to also get posion) and a shaman and that way you cover all tradeskills...(minus forage) and then prepare to dump 2million plat into it.... but at that point uou will make more than you lost... but seriously.

tradeskillers make mad money once they get there skill past 300 at that point you will have needed to work the others to at least 200... the best money makers have every tradskill maxed as high as they go and 1 they took all the way and then got AA's to make it work the best.. and they make mad money however it cost them... dont expect quick turn around.. it want happen.. gluck.
