Been gone a while, questionFollow

Ok, so I have been gone from Everquest for roughly 3 years. That being said I started back in 1999, so I played from 1999-2006. I dabbled in a little WoW but was left completely bored. Recently I have had urges to come back to Everquest, but I do have some reservations, them being:

-Are there still a lot of people playing EQ? What I mean is, are there still a lot of players in the common areas, are there enough people to take on the big raids?

-Are the PvP servers (Zek at least in my time) still running and decent?

-And what is your outlook on EQ in the next 1-3 years? Would you say that the end is near? Do you feel like Sony is going to keep coming out with expansions and improving the overall product?

My biggest fear is to come back to EQ, and realize that the game that I always loved just isn't what it used to be, and never will be again.

I am sure you guys have seen many posts like this in the past, but if you could answer these questions it would be greatly appreciated since I don't stay in contact with many old EQ friends anymore.

Thanks!

Grouping and raiding is as much fun as ever.

PvP? *shrugs* no clue here. I prefer to play WITH people, not against them, but whatever floats your boat.

EQ is better than it ever was. It's more rewarding, less frustrating and less overcamped. Freedom of choice in how YOU want to play the game has never been better. As for how long SOE will keep churning out expansions, your guess is as good as anybody's. But until they take the hamster off the wheel, we're having a good time.

The game isn't what you remember. It never will be. If what you look for is a return to your past, you'll be sorely disappointed. The old broken quests are still the old broken quests, though!

And yes we have. Every week. And there's really no way to give a meaningful answer, since we don't know what YOU remember/liked/hated about the EQ experience that you enjoyed (or not) before your break.

EQ for a casual player has never been better. With defiant gear, silverwing quest line, james the watchmaker quest line, hotzone gear and augments, there is no need to buy anything but skinspikes damage shield potions from the bazaar.
There are also mana, attack haste, heal potions for sale from both players and vendors in pok.

Healer mercers have made the game very zerg friendly. The merc does a wonderful job keeping you alive, buffed and ressed.

I'll admit finding a group can be tricky now unless you at end game. If you like to solo EQ has made duoing with your merc very efficient.

As for the future, I see the game going on for years to come. With all the expansions, you easily have a ton of game content as a returning player.

No idea on the raiding scene. Hmm EQ is the king of PvE. I would look to another game if PvP is your thing.
