Returning: need weps n stuffFollow

I'm an old player giving EQ a try with a few friends again, and I've noticed that better gear is dropping off of level 15 mobs than I have on my 62 necro which I farmed plat for to buy on the bazaar.

Now some of my alts...well, most of them actually, could use some upgrades for armor, but mostly for weapons. My bard's and beastlord's damage is low compared to what I've seen others hitting for. But I'm not sure if there are new quests that offer better weapons or if there are better weapon drops to be found.

I'm a little busy at the moment trying to catch up my friends, but when they aren't playing I can take care of my alts and see if I can improve them.

If anyone could help me figure someting out, or just a general direction, I'd really appreciate it. Im having to sift through a ton of new content as well as remember the old stuff.

Go and read the sticky notes at the top of the forum, for returning players.
As far as gear is concerned there is a whole line of Defiant gear, with good to great stats, level dependent. Different names like ornate defiant, intricate, elaborate etc. Just go to bazaar, type in the search name defiant, and put in class and level of your toons. Or search the site here. Go to the old hotzones as well as the new ones to pick up special gear and augments for them.

Go and read the sticky, and read it again.
Go and read the Sticky"s a fourth time.

You can get silverwing for ear, finger, neck, face, waist, shoulder and back. These items have nice AC. The quest giver is http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=26660. Akheva ruins has a nice charm for level 50 and up. Some of the older hotzones have a ring and ear piece to fill up empty slots. If you plan to hunt for your own defiant weapons and armor, patience is a must. Having the right defiant armor type to drop for you is close to winning the lottery it seems. Certain zones seem to be more heavy on one type of armor for some reason.

But since this is Everquest, it is fun to hunt for your own defiant armor to give you a smile when it finally drops.

Thanks for the help.

I went through the stickys, took a while, and I'm surprised at how much has changed or been added. Mercs were probably the biggest change for me, but I'm not sure how well they work later in the game. The few memories I have of trying to lvl post-60 was in full groups. The hot zone it reccommends to my necromancer is one I'm not so sure I could solo in, but then again I need to practice and get into the game again.

The defiant gear is definitely the way to go, so I'm going to be getting some of that for my bard and, if I can get used to him again, my necro. I just need to relearn each character's limitations, especially while soloing with mercs.

Agree with the Defiant armor is very good and got for both my Pally and my Ranger since back after over 3 years and other posters recommended it too. Cost isn't that much. Put up a Trader.
