Well, I've kind of lost interest in EQ almost immediately after renewing my account and buying the latest expansion... The reason? I have no idea where to level up my (71) mage or my (48) necro :(.
They both have cleric mercs (Mage has journeyman 1, and necro apprentice 5), so they're good to go just about anywhere... I just really want to get them up there, especially my necro, but the 65 hotzone has too many roamers and GD is too big/too few mobs, and Naggy's is too tight to kite.

Any ideas?

Everyone has their own opinion on what zone is better. But as a guide..I use this site under (Zones.... by level)....run and explore..one of the beauties of this game. Lot of info and opinions about each zone... and you just might discover a new one not written a lot about or was talked about long ago and has changed.

The necro would do well in Howling Stones. Kill entrance mobs, levitate to basement for easier mobs. Then move to north wing. Excellent XP. Undead mobs are slowable and fairly easy to take out. My necro spent lots of time there.

Another option would be the boats in Dulak. Decent money to be made there as well. I tended to tap/tank mobs after dotting them up and siccing pet.

Or you could head to Burning Woods and basically own the zone.

Another option would be Goru'Kar Mesa from the Serpent's expansion. Decent XP, no crowds, rare aug drop...can kill the earthen oozes in the cave behind the Minhotens, or go after the spiders/wolves/bears. I've got alts hunting there for the first AA's.

Not so sure when it comes to the mage.

The mage should be able to handle alot of things. I've seen a level 73 or 74 mage soloing in Valdeholm (the 70 hotzone). Drop into the pit with SoW or SoE and kite around the spiders. The oozes will not assist the spiders but the spiders will assist the oozes, if that makes sense. So kill spiders first. With a cleric merc, you should have no problems if you let your pet tank.

City of mist undead stables on necro to 53ish. They have really low hps. From there gargolyes in plane of nightmare. They are 57 easy to kite don't summon dropping gems and EP's, read my post on how to make it there. If you pull the ones right inside the wall by tombstones you will get 2 if you pull the wrong direction, all others single pulls. Heads up for the pesky bats with large aggro radius.

As for mage what about halls of honor basement? My beasty is 71.4 now. It seems leveling on light blues is a lot more efficient than tackling dark blues. Mowing down level 59 light blues in bloodfields solo seems a lot better xp than doing RCoD solo or MPG with my merc.
