I killed it this weekend, and it was in the non-instance version of Lavaspinners. I found the magma spider in the room just north of the Boordmother room (http://www.mapfiend.net/map/delvea). From the Broodmother in the far southeast corner of the zone, take the tunnel leading northwest. In the next room, you have three choices West, NW, and North, take the northern tunnel. Take your first right. The magma spider was the one at the far end of the room.
Hopefully you were killing the right mob.
edit: southeast vs southwest, bah who needs a compass!
