Since the introduction of mercs, I have a new passion for the game that I hadn't experienced since I first started playing back in 2004. Thank you Sony, you've solved one of your problems. For those who hate mercs....too bad, deal with it. You're wildly outnumbered.

Mercs are great.
I play a Ranger and a Cleric.
The only thing is that as a Cleric I find
myself not quite so needed, but I can solo
undead a heck of a lot easier now.

Now if Sony would get off its collective butt
and start advertising or something.
There is still plenty of life left in EQ and
a healthy "campaign" to recruit new/more players
would help keep it alive as long as possible.
May it never die.

Advertising? Whats that? Seriously, do a search for "EverQuest" on Amazon sometime and you'll notice something peculiar.

That apparently no EQ-related product came out in 2008?

We have been discussing the lack of advertisement or the availability of EQ to the general public see: Dwindling Population thread, this form.
As of Mercenaries, Marketing Window, LoN card game, Zones with pink elephants or what ever. It is okay by me as long as it brings in new players and increased population.
This game started as a way for people to get together play & enjoy from all areas of the world. There is a variety of games within games to be played here. Raid, group, solo…adventure, quest, hunt, farm, craft, sell, buy or just sit and use game as a chat. People have gotten Married, Divorced, Created long time friendships, met connections to jobs or items, and in some instances created hatred but it has influence a lot of real time lives, including mine. You do have freedom of choice. I have yet to see someone’s arm bruised by SoE and forced to use a mercenary, buy from their Marketing Window or play their, in my opinion, stupid card game.
Big thing lately is how Mercenaries have destroyed Pking on Zek…..Adapt, I have had to make adjustments but I can still get my kills in. Actually it has been even easier, in some instances, because the player has a confidence in their mercenary that makes them stay and fight instead of run away. People always talk that the need to change but really like their womb and do not want change. I feel change is good. What is even nice about the virtual world of EverQuest is you fix, remove or patch what is broken and all you really hurt is pride, ego or upset someone’s little pixel world. Change adds discovery and thinking, which lacks in a lot of other on line games. But what has kept the diehard’s here is the content, friendships developed and time invested. Not too many Games celebrating their 10th year on line! If you have a chance read all you can on these forms, lots of opinions, knowledge, experiences and interesting ideas. Some good, some bad but always interesting.

Safe Travels in Life and in Game.

Big mistake there was SoE did not release a retail copy of the new expansion. One expansion a year now means only one release per year.
