Question on Shadowknight / Necromancer DUO ...Follow

#1 Dec 11 2008 at 3:52 PM Rating: Decent
HAIL!

I have been playing a Shadowknight / Necromancer DUO, equipped with two cleric mercs. The foursome is formidable! My question: Will the spells from the same line stack? My SK is casting a much lower version of the exact same spell as the Necro; does the Necro spell over ride the SK's spell?

I need to know before I begin to get into the higher level content. The toons are in their 40's ATM; I want them to both be 100% effective down the road. Now is the time to change one of them out if needed (most likely the necro for a chanty or wizzy).

The combo is awesome now ... they both feign death, DPS is solid, 2 great snares, they even look badass (both DEs). I hope it is wise to keep them ...

Please Advise,

Yes they will stack. I always have the two highest fire DoT's for my necro and they always stack. The only thing that I don't believe will stack is your snares.

Yeah, stacking shouldn't be much of an issue. The only thing I can see being an issue is that you are going to end up duplicating a ton of abilities with those two classes. Swapping one, or the other, out may greatly increase the versitility of your duo down the road.

I wouldn't worry about the overlap of class. Not with one being a necro, and not with healer mercs.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much. The only things you're really missing are "serious" heals and you have mercs for that. I'm sure that ports or tracking or something would be nice but not really needed.

Shadowknights and necros are both solid soloers in their own rights. Combining them just makes it faster and deadlier.

Do you have both mercs out at once? That seems excessive and a waste of plat/xp.

What I was suggesting were two classes that compliment each other better. Granted necs and sks can both solo, but they don't compliment each others style very well... tanking vs kiting. For instance a shamy might go better with the sk for slows/haste/buff and can still add dps through their pet and dots. Or on the other side a ranger might go better with the nec, if you still want a melee class, as they make a better kiting partner.

Just my 2cp =)

Necros kite because they can't tank. With the SK tanking, the necro just needs to load on the DoTs and send in Jobaber. Haste is available via potions and standard hp/ac buffs via the merc.

I'll admit that a slower would be nice but I wouldn't start over for one. Go go Vaniki camp! Smiley: laughSmiley: rolleyesSmiley: cry

I'm not saying that a sk/nec duo is not viable, just that alternate combos may provide more options/variety. And considering you can level a toon to 40's in a couple days, now is a good time to play with different pairings to see if there is one you may enjoy more... after all that's what matters the most =)

Fair enough. The OP made the same point himself.
