The Season of Frostfell 2008 is here!
(December 9, 2008 through January 8th 2009)

As the air starts to chill and the frost begins to cover the ground, the season of Frostfell begins. No holiday season is perfect though and a couple of your fellow Norrathians need your help to make Frostfell a merry holiday for all! Visit your favorite major city and the Plane of Knowledge to find out how you can help.

The season of Frostfell will embrace Norrath from December 9th through January 8th. Various events new and old will be available at different intervals throughout the season. So make sure you join in the fun before Frostfell is over for another year.

A Freezing New Adventure
Good parents save up their money all year long in order to get gifts for their children on Frostfell. But for the several families in the Plane of Knowledge there will be no gifts. Someone has stolen them! Kind hearted adventurers of level 55 to 64, 65 to 74, and 75 and over who want to help these families as a solo adventurer or with a group should speak to Elba Straw or one of the other distraught parents in the Plane of Knowledge.

This frosty adventure will lead brave adventures into Freezkorr's Lair where Santug Claugg and some of his Gigglegibber goblins have been captured by Freezkorr, the leader of the Frostclaw goblin clan.

a gigglegibber goblin can be found in front of the small bank in PoK.

You say, 'Hail, a gigglegibber goblin'
a gigglegibber goblin says 'Happy Frostfell to you, Korromprok! Happy, happy, happy! But friends not all so happy. Poor Elba. Sad Rellith. Unhappy Cordys. Maybe you spread happiness to them! You find them up here on this building!'

Level 55 to 64, step 1:

Elba Straw is sitting on a bench next to the gigglegibber goblin.

You say, 'Hail, Elba Straw'
Elba Straw frowns, obviously a struggle to hold back her tears. 'Hello there. It's a fine day, isn't it?' A [tear] runs down her plain face.

You say, 'tear'
Elba Straw says 'I don't want to burden you with this, but my heart is breaking and I need your help. It's not just for me, it's for my two boys. You see, [someone] appeared in my shop and stole the gifts I was going to give to my sons for Frostfell this year.'

You say, 'someone'
Elba Straw says 'Not just anyone, it was a filthy pirate! Imagine that, a pirate! And how did a pirate learn about our Frostfell gifts? How did he get into my shop? It's all too much for me to understand, but if you can [help] me, I would be very grateful. There's a gigglegibber goblin running around here someplace, ask him about the pirate, he might know where to look for one. I hear those gigglegibber's are good with gifts. They help Santug all the time.'

You say, 'help'
Elba Straw says 'Thank you so much! Don't forget to speak to the gigglegibber goblin!'

You have been assigned the task 'Presents Lost'.
Note: This is a shared task, but you can also get it alone. You can collect the needed items beforehand.
WATCH OUT: The task will be gone if you log!

You say, 'Hail, a gigglegibber goblin'
a gigglegibber goblin says 'Oh, you talk to elbow lady about [pirate] problem! Make gibblegibber very sad.'

You say, 'pirate'
a gigglegibber goblin says 'Pirates not nice. Gigglegibber think you find this pirate in big boat! What was boat name... something about Hate. Pirates like hate. Hate's Fury? Yes, that the name! You go there and teach pirate that hating is bad.'

Shared task: Presents Lost
Time Left: Unlimited

Find and Return Shiny Brass Keepsake Bracelet to Elba 0/2 Plane of Knowledge
Find and Return Festively Packaged Toy to Elba 0/2 Plane of Knowledge
Kill 1 Filthy Pirate 0/1 Hate's Fury, The Scorned Maiden
Recover and Return Ellard's Yellow Bouncy Ball to Elba 0/1 Plane of Knowledge
Recover and Return Evert's Green Bouncy Ball to Elba 0/1 Plane of Knowledge
Talk to a gigglegibber goblin 0/1 Plane of Knowledge

The Shiny Brass Keepsake Bracelets seem to be random drops in Hate's Fury.
The Festively Packaged Toy are ground spawns, found one at -447,-317 and one at, -258,-553.
Filthy Pirate cons dark blue to lvl 67 and stands next to Ralo the Black. During the fight, he transforms into Iceheart, Frostclaw Thief.

Iceheart, Frostclaw Thief waves his arms in a gesture that dispells a magical disguise. 'So, you've caught on to my disguise! No matter, I'll stop you cold and Freezkorr shall envolope Norrath in an avalanch of despair!

Iceheart, Frostclaw Thief's corpse releases a final gasp of freezing cold breath.

Iceheart has approx. 19,8k hp (plus 14,7k of Filthy Pirate) and drops both of the Bouncy Balls. During the fight, he spawns several "a filthy rat", light blue to lvl 67, at least 8-10 of them.

You say, 'Hail, a gigglegibber goblin'
a gigglegibber goblin says 'Gigglegibber feel strange. A feeling in stomach. Not happy feeling of good food and hot chocolate. Feeling like... feeling not good. Maybe worried. That might be what feeling is. Hear that maybe Santug killed. Not believing it, not gigglegibber. But maybe you speak to Maynar and be sure. Gigglegibber not like this feeling.'

Elba's elation at the return of her sons' gifts was obvious. She suggested that you should talk to Maynar Furrwik, who is trying to discover more about these mysterious thefts.

You have successfully been granted your reward for: Presents Lost

I shrouded down to lvl 55 to get this task, unshrouded the reward was:

Snowball
No Trade
Slot: FACE
Effect: Throw Snowball (Casting Time: 1.0)
Req Level: 65
WT: 0.0 Size: TINY
Class: ALL
Race: ALL

Throw Snowball
Spell Effect: Hurls a snowball at your target

Level 55 to 64, step 2:

Maynar Furrwik is standing next to a gigglegibber goblin.

You say, 'Hail, Maynar Furrwik'
Maynar Furrwik looks at you, figuring out if you have the stamina to take on a major task. 'You know what really makes me angry? People who ruin what little joy others are able to eke out of their short and miserable lives, namely, that pack of miserable ice goblins that is trying to wreck our Frostfell celebrations. I can think of a few things I'd like to do to [vermin] like that.'

You say, 'vermin'
Maynar Furrwik says 'These miserable Frostclaw goblins have earned my wrath by capturing our kindly Santug Claugg and several of his Gigglegibber goblins. If it's a war they want, a [war] they shall get!'

You say, 'war'
Maynar Furrwik says 'Yeah, I have a job for you. I want you to take a force of adventurers, track down these miserable Frostclaws and make them dead. I think the Gigglegibbers who survived the first Frostclaw attack mentioned that they were set up somewhere in Permafrost Keep. Are you [willing] to take a stand, Korromprok, and deal a blow to those who would malign our sacred traditions and joyful celebrations?'

You say, 'willing'
Maynar Furrwik says 'Go and take care of our Frostclaw Goblin problem. I'll make sure it will be worth your while. Know that the ice goblin, Freezkorr, is the leader of their gang; get rid of him, and the others won't dare to interfere with our holiday ever again.'

At this point, you need a party to get the task.

Level 65 to 74, step 1:

Cordys Leaflighter is next to the gigglegibber goblin, pathing into and out of the small bank.

You say, 'Hail, Cordys Leaflighter'
Cordys Leaflighter frowns, biting her lip as she measures her emotions. 'Yes, hello, please forgive my distraction.' She seems rather [upset] about something.

You say, 'upset'
Cordys Leaflighter says 'Too often in this world, the dangers are many and the pleasures few. We Koada'dal struggle to maintain a bright outlook even in the darkest of times, but there are those in this world who are petty enough and low enough to [ruin] Frostfell for everyone. Money is scarce after the last calamity to strike our land, and what little I had was spent on Frostfell presents for my kinlings... but the presents are now stolen.'

You say, 'ruin'
Cordys Leaflighter says 'A tiny golem made of coal broke the wards on our house and stole the Frostfell presents meant for my children. The thing left quite a mess. Saddening it is indeed, knowing that not even the tiniest expressions of joyful celebration are safe from vile miscreants. This distasteful violation of our holiday festival mustn't go unanswered. Perhaps it is too much to hope, but will you [help] return our presents from that horrible creature? I've got a feeling the gigglegibber goblin may know where they have gone.'

You say, 'help'
Cordys Leaflighter says 'Thank you so much! Don't forget to speak to the gigglegibber goblin!'

You have been assigned the task 'Gifts Ungiven'.
Note: This is a shared task, but you can also get it alone. You can collect the needed items beforehand.
WATCH OUT: The task will be gone if you log!

You say, 'Hail, a gigglegibber goblin'
a gigglegibber goblin says 'You talk to pale elf lady? She have trouble with some sort of coal thing. Gigglegibber not know much about [coal].'

You say, 'what coal'
a gigglegibber goblin says 'Know nothing about creatures made of coal, but know where presents might be! Gigglegibbler know that it on a big floating island. It so high it in the clouds. Much thunder and lightning. Name have to do with that. Ah! Thundercrest! That the name. You go show coal thing that taking presents is bad.'

When I did step 1 on Hate's Fury, the keepsake bracelets only dropped off of the rats and dropped at about a 50% rate.

Any update on the New Frostfell tasks for 2008? Is there any loot? Is it worthwhile? I haven't logged in for a week or so, and am not sure if these tasks are worth it.

Thanks,
Parax
