Werent they supposed to redo the Human Model? I know they were and had it on test and people whined about them looking like Drakkins sans the tattoos and horns.. Did the redo get scrapped?

I thought that the new human model that came with TBS was supposed to take effect at release, but after it didn't i assumed that they scrapped it.

At this point, with the limited dev team and resources, graphics changes should be at the bottom of the priority list imo.

New PC models are needed for a variety of reasons. First, and most importantly the Luclin models are extremely inefficient. New models will make the game run better for many people. Of course, they will also make things look better, and there are a lot of people that care about that as well.

The human model was shown to the community and it was universally hated. The EQ communtiy has rarely been that united in their opinion about something. So SOE quickly scrapped that.

The last that I heard (via the dev blog) was that they were working on an elf model (though they didn't give specifics as to which elf.) That was quite a while ago though.

No word in a long time about this issue. EQ2 and Vanguard both got new models recently too. So I'm curious as to SOE's plans for EQ in this regard.

Most who are graphics whores have moved on to newer games, infact I know a good number of people who still use the original models let alone the Luclin models. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see some graphics updates but considering some the other issues including class balance, songs/spells that have become copy/past from one exp to the next, the bard class in general, are a much better use of the devs times. With the crew they have at the moment it's barely enough to keep up with an expansion a year + keeping the game running and playable. It's unreasonable to expect them to dump time into asthetics when there are issues with the functions/mechanics of the game. Add to this that, considering the age of the game, their staff is more likely to shrink than grow, I think we're stuck with what we have.

I just want to point out that the guy working on new spells & AA's probably isn't the same guy designing dungeons who probably isn't the same guy modelling mobs.

Maybe you think they should spend their money hiring new spell guys rather than new modelling guys but simplying working on making prettier trolls doesn't necessarily mean not getting new AAs.

Joph, are you suggesting that trolls aren't pretty now?!?

Better watch out where you hang out in POK, some trolls might want to have a chat with you...

I still use all classic models. I don't care for the luclin models. A game to me is about content not pretty graphics.

As mentioned, the human look was redone but universally hated.
I could play with stick figures and still get my entertainment dollar's worth out of EQ, graphics come after lore and gameplay.

Comming from experience with design work involving small teams.... When you have too few people to handle the task at hand, everyone ends up with their hands in many different aspcets, even if it isn't their specialty or specificaly their job. EQ is old. It is not SOEs priority. They dev team is staffed just well enough to keep things going so that we all keep paying our monthly fee. I give the devs huge props for keeping up as well as they do. With the hours they put in, the nightmare maintaining the eq source must be, and general lack of appreciation from much of the player base they are over worked and undercredited.
