I reported in petetion #3081122-000320 that I had lost all updates on the Quest "Testing The Invaders". The decision was that since I died that I should redo the quest. I did so last night and attempted to attach an addendum to that petition but evidentally ewas unable to do so. I can understand with the large volumn of petitions and reports that you receive that is probably necessary.

I completed that quest again, with no deaths, and once more lost all the updates with the exception of the last step completed

All updates were intact up untill we did the docks, they were the only remaining steps needed to complete the quests. Upon running to the end of the first dock I got the onscreen message that the quest was updated.

When I opened the quest window all of the up dates including that one were greyed out. I immediately ran back onto the dock and got the update message again. When I looked at the quest window - it did show an update - but for the second dock.

We then went to the second dock and completed it with the onscreen message popping up. On checking, I now had updates for dock one and dock two.

We then went to the third dock, completed it and got pop-up message. Upon checking quest the only step not greyed out was the third dock. Docks one and two were now greyed out along with the rest of the steps done in the Blackwater Village.

Out of curiosity I went to Aldin to see if maybe the greying out was some sort of a fluke. Upon hailing he told me to move on before I betrayed his position - or something like that.

All I am asking is that the steps that I completed - twice now - be reinstated so that I can speak to Aldin and receive the torch for the next step - burn the boat.

I was palng with the foloowing characters last night: Seldane, Sweetpea, Sugarcane, Hemight, and Goldeneedle.

The response to my previous petition on this matter insinuated that I had not done the task. I assure you that I most definitely have done the task. I am a doctor and hold myself to very high standards. I certainly am not going to cheat in a game. What would be the purpose

Respectfully yours;
David J. Bellew, DDS

Back to List of My Questions

I know that this is a hugh post, and I apoligize for that. However I could not think of any other way to completely describe the situation.

I am following CS advice to alert the EQ community and as this is by far rhe most active board, I figured that this is where I should start.

If any of you have experience this promblem with that, or any other task, plese communicate that to SOE - I do not like being accused of lieing and cheating. That portion of the quest is a real pain. I have done it 3x now and they don't show any records of it? No wonder they can't catch the real cheats.

I'd suggest to petition again. Different GM, different solution. Unfortunate, but true.

Well that was the 2nd petition - same result, except the other said to repeat, which I did with same result. So, since second GM said to take it to the comunity - here it is. Oh, and I did do a /bug, but who knows where those go.

What flew all over me was that the first GM basically said the he doubted that I had done the task. I don't think the real cheaters send petitions to SONY, but then, maybe they do.

Thanks for the info there, jonny. I have never had a challenge with EQ customer support before. What is most distrubing is the fact they have no record of my doing the task.

I really do not want to do that step again - having allready done it 3x - but at this point I know all the little tricks that are needed to finish the thing in the shortest time frame. At that it still takes a couple of hours of fighting due to haveing to basically clear the area.

I did think it was interesting that they told me to take it to the community - guess things are a little boring for them and they need a little more turmoil.

My guess on the reasoning behind taking it to the community, is due to the fact, that many quest problems have player known work-arounds, or as Sony would call them, the tactics required to complete the task, as it was intended. :-/

This problem seems to be genuine (in the sense that it requires Sony's intervention and not you doing something different) and /bug reports will generally get them fixed eventually, but almost certainly not in the immediate future, and depending on how many reports and how high they rank it, and how long it takes them to solve it also ... Some quests have been broken for years, a few from their inception, but many are fixed, especially when part of a recent expansion.

However, bringing it to the community often raises awareness of the problem, and more people speak out and /bug it, so it gets more attention from Sony in return.
I'd post the same thing on the official Sony forums as well. I rarely use them, but lots of people that use the official forums, rarely come here.

Side-note: Love the comments by jonnypanic .. Persistence is definitely the way to go with CS :)

Good luck!

Yther - I did post on the official forum. Moderator removed part of the post and told me not to bring CS related posts to those forums. I replied that I was only doing what the GM told me to do.

I think, fromthe comments on the oficial forums from players that we are just going to drop this quest. One person said that to complete it he had to bring in a raid force and completely wipe the area before he could complete the task and not lose the up dates. Seems like it has been bugged from the start with a tank not being able to complete it untill all mobs in the area are eliminated. That is not possible with a single group due to repop times and the number of mobs.
