Then you better buy a console or a PSP.

I would say that we would be one of the early adopters on [bringing MMOs to consoles], and we plan on becoming one of the dominant players in the MMO space on consoles.

It's pretty safe to say that 'EverQuest' has not seen its last game.

That kind of stinks. I've played EQOA and I didn't like it that much. I thought it would be fun but I just couldn't get into it.

What's everyone elses take on maybe having to switch to a console to play a newer EQ?

I'd be playing older EQs. I'm not a console gamer and wouldn't become one just to play an MMORPG.

Only advantage in using a console, would be that the game could be build around the performance of the machine, reducing lag to a minimum hopefully.

First they would have to design a game I would want to play. I of course would then have to buy a new console and a new TV as the 3 TV's we have now are spoken for between the wife, grandma and the kids. So I would be looking at atleast a $1000 investment to play any console based game. But I have a feeling they are not looking for me as a customer but rather my kids.

I have questions as to how they would deal with communication between players. MMO's are such social orientated games do they expect people to drop the controller to type something out on a keyboard? That would be a PITA. You could use mic's but not everyone wants to voice chat with some 12 year old kid, I dont.lol.

Actually in EQOA there was a way to bring up a keyboard that was used with the controller. It was much slower than playing with a keyboard and controller.

You guys do realize that future Sony MMOs will be playable on both PC and consoles at the same time? They won't be like EQA console only. That is what he is talking about.

I don't think all of them will be. I thought I remembered hearing at E3 that the new DC Universe game will only be for PS3. It's been a while since then so I may be wrong.

But whether an mmorpg is PC or console nowadays just doesn't concern me too much. It's more a matter of design than delivery method... a crappy game won't float regardless of platform.

I couldnt agree with you more. EQ was a sensation when it first came out because it was innovative and unlike anything else out there. They better think long and hard about what they are going to offer up as " new EQ ".
