I think it's called Totemic... from quests in Lake Rathetear.

Yep:

Totemic Breastplate
Totemic Boots
Totemic Bracers
Totemic Cloak
Totemic Gauntlets
Totemic Greaves
Totemic Helm
Totemic Vambraces

There ya go.

Just remember that far superior armor drops in the tutorial (crude defiant), and that there is no reason to spend the time and plat to make these pieces when you could be having fun grouping with other in one of the hot zones.

The quests will take you all over creation (antonica) and sitting on boring single spawns waiting for your mob to pop.

Depends on whether the person is playing as a min/maxer (trying to be the very best they possibly can at any given moment in time), or playing to enjoy the roleplaying aspect of the game. What ranger (from a roleplaying viewpoint) would go without Ivy Etched stuff? What Warrior would forgo crafted?

A smart one?
I love my two pieces of ro armor that I worked for (see my player of the week comment from 2006) and I had some totemic armor when I started my first shaman on Cazic thule, but I bought it from a player, Iceblossom, who had them in the bank. Wear them today? Only the piece that had extended enhancement.

However if you wish to be old school go ahead have fun!

So why should anyone do the anniversary scavenger hunts, where you get a useless clicky fireworks stick? Or the Halloween tasks, which mostly results in low-stat food? Ever seen people doing old quests just for fun? I did the original low-level armor quests on each of my toons, and although it was a p.i.t.a. sometimes, I'm proud of having accomplished what not many people do anymore...

Anniversary scavenger hunts are fun. The 2x exp potions are very useful. I carry around my santa fishing bait pail everywhere I go for an occasional spur of the moment fishing opportunity.

I am one of the few players who do the halloween food quest many times and make that food last all year long until the next halloween. I have checked many other player's magelo's and have not seen a one that had Gummy Bear Delights all year round like I do. I just keep eating foraged and bought food so that I dont accidentally eat my good stuff away. (I keep a couple stacks in the bank in case I forget one evening and loose a couple gummy bears.)

The skeleton illusions are very useful in some situations and just handy in others. Take MPG trial Mastery of Corruption raid. All those jokers look exactly like your raid force and if you use illusion or turn off name tags then its easier to win the event.

Lots of ppl use Santugs stocking for a bag also, although I didnt do that quest.

My only point is that EQ is designed for player interaction and if you choose to do quests from 2000 then it will be extremely hard to get others of similar level to join your enthusiasm at getting those drops. (granted you might actually farm some Simple Defiant armors while you are attempting to get totemic)

so bring your fishing pole and /gems and whatnot because it will be a lot of sitting around doing nothing waiting for a spawn to pop. Most ppl dont like to do that anymore.

Its very similar situation for other bards/rogues who want every illusion possible. I read about them sitting for dozens of hours and dozens of days all by themselves killing PH's over and over. For these ppl on a mission its worth the time spent and thats ok with me if that is what they want to do.

The difference here is that the illusions can be used for fun or for utility forever basically. They never become outdated or completely useless where you would destroy it to make room in your bank.

If that same bard was fighting for a complete set of Imbrued Plate armors from Fear, then I think, well thats silly, but ok go for it. Have a nice day. I am going to be over in Loping Plains or Hills of Shade blasting away mobs with some friends who are working on Eron's Jewelry quests.

If you want the specific color of Imbrued armor then just look it up on Lucy, and just dye your current efficient armor that color. No one is going to /inspect you and stand in awe that you spent so much time collecting outdated stuff.

I just dont understand why someone would actually loot a piece of wearable Ornate or Flawed defiant armor and say 'Nah, I dont want to wear this. I would rather wear the Imbrued armor I came to Fear looking for but have not found yet.' That same person will likely experience many deaths in Fear looking for a set of Imbrued when only wearing Lambent

When I consider min/max I consider that to mean:
1. minimize the amount of frustration and boredom and irritation you have at playing a game that is supposed to be fun.
2. minimize the number of fellow players that consider you a newb or worthless or ebayed or tagged to never invite to a group.
3. Maximize the opportunities that you have to socialize and feel successful and helpful and useful.
4. Maximize the number of fellow players that find you logged on and ask if you already have something planned or can help them out with this or that.

When ppl choose to go what some call 'old school' routes, they in effect are telling every other person of similar level around them that they dont want to belong to the team and the community. They want instead to make a semi political statement that they are refusing to do what is better for themselves and instead do what is harder for themselves. Just throwing away a looted piece of defiant armor because you were not looking for it is silly. Just put it on and go about your business.

If folks enjoy getting to a groupable level (easier to find pickup groups), and then going back and doing old quests for the nostalgia, then thats cool too. I know of one dude who did every single 1.0 epic for every class solo. He has em all in the bank. They are all totally useless but he has fun talking about it. He does admit it was a pain to do and he didnt enjoy it.

To answer your question about What warrior would forgo Crafted?

Iksars. They never could wear plate and had to do their own very long quests and camps for their Trooper Scale. I created an Iksar Warrior and played him to 53 when Kunark first came out.
