Piercing skillups based on DEX ?Follow

#1 Sep 18 2008 at 6:31 AM Rating: Decent
Piercing skillups must be based on the dex stat. On dark blue mobs with a 90 dex buffed my piercing is going up soooo slow. Like a tool, I have not been using frenzy ha. 1hb on the other hand with a 130 strength has been going up nicely on dark blues. I'm using the 7 24 mines dagger.

I know its going to get better when I get stronger dex buffs and quickness.

I was under the impression all weapons skill ups were based on dex.
There is always a lag period if you havent kept current with your weapons skills when skill ups seem so slow.

I found where weapon skills are based on dex. I also found where many offensive skills are based on strength. 1hb is going up at least 5 times a level. Piercing on the other hand lucky to get 2 per level.

On a side note I once roled a gnome pally. With no buffs at all with the default high intel, I was capping all weapon skills fast.

Things that make you go hmm.

I'm pretty sure strength only affects your Offense (in terms of weaponry), and how much damage you deal. Dexterity is all weapon skills. Int -might- be weapon skills if it's higher than your dexterity, but I don't think so.

STR: Atk/Damage/Weight
STA: Hitpoints
DEX: Offensive/melee skills/procs
AGI: Defensive/avoid damage
WIS: Mana pool/skillups
INT: Mana pool/skillups
CHA: Prices(and charm?)

That's it.

Sony and chanters have denied that Chr affects charm. That part seems to belong on the eq legends post.

Doesn't CHA have some effect if a Lull is resisted?

When Sony revamped the whole Lull line, I thought I remember the following:

Lull is successful.
Lull is resisted, some check against caster's CHA.
Check passed, you get a resist message, but no aggro.
Check failed, you get a resist message and aggro.

True. CHA affects the results of a failed 'Lull/pacify'

Most people on my server refer to this as a "Critical Fail" when the mob (and proximity aggro mobs) all rush to attack you when a lull says 'resisted'.

Bards used to get critical fails a few years ago but then we stopped getting them until about a year ago. Now I have to keep a finger on the 'Fade button' when pacifying in case I aggro them all on a critical fail.

It now happens often enough to not be a 'rare event', even though I am over 450 Charisma. Not too often though. Maybe 1 in 30 or 1 in 50 pacifys.
