Glancing at it, it looks as though it drops from mobs in the 35-45 range. So go hit an older zone in that range (LGuk, SolB, Karnor's, etc) and mow through it. I say older zone because the mobs will have less hitpoints and usually do dungeons because it saves you from having to wander about, looking for roaming mobs in an outdoor zone.

It's just rare though. I was plowing through Dalnir's the other day and cleared the entire zone twice and got two defiant drops for my efforts.

As a level 65, I seem to have very good luck with Tower of Frozen Shadow for ornate defiant drops. I was there last night trying to spawn Tserrina, and in the few mobs that I killed on the way up to her, I got 3 ornate drops. Also, I seem to recall having a TON of ornate drops a month or two ago when I was working on getting my key to the upper couple of floors. So, give ToFS a shot, and you might get a couple of hotzone aug drops to boot.

I was plowing through low-level zones to do the Silverwing quest and had backpacks full of defiant armor drop for me. Level did not seem to make any difference to the drop rate.

As I recall, they had boosted drop rates during the Legacy promotion.
