Decent weekend in EQ-land here. Took my ranger to Wakening Lands at lvl 41 and found it only barely worth the effort. For a lvl 45 hotzone, much of it is already light blue to me in the forest. Mind you, I was most interested in the fauna I could fear kite as opposed to giants, geonoids and holgresh. I got my petrified holgresh eye (nice aug for the level; +5 to all stats and some AC), made lvl 42 and skedattled on out. I doubt I'll go back.
I know what you mean, I went there with my paladin at lvl 49, to see what I could hunt there. I ended up in Skyshrine, all lightblue too but easier to fight and seemingly better xp.
Did not do much this weekend, I did get lucky with several spawns. I finally have my very first AA point!
All on Friday too, first I finished the named sand giant quest in North Ro, at least I had a bundle of pp after several days of camping them. After that, I decided to try Castle Mistmoore, to get one of the missing pieces of the Lightforge questline. After using up about 2 cloudy potions, I start to remember from years ago that invis and invis vs undead do not stack so it's no wonder the undead in the castle spotted me. After I killed him and some adds, I manage to find my way around the castle again and get the bone I needed from the garden. I also found the spot to camp the mob for my Soulfire questline, but unfortunately he wasn't up.
After that, I decided to stack up on cloudy potions again, whilst doing so, I remembered that I needed to quest in the Gulf one more time for another spell. As it's a healing spell, for lvl 52, I thought why not try it and see if I get lucky. I did, the hidden area in the harbour was being cleared by someone trying to spawn the Soulripper (or so I think the mob was called) and as I arrived, my mob spawns and I get the spell.
I didn't even die trying to get out again, which I recall doing the last time years ago as I got stuck in the entrance. As I was able to invis, getting stuck this time didn't matter much.
Getting the spell, I decided to find another part of the Lightforge bones, this time in Steamfont. Meldrath was only green to me, his fear never stuck so he went down very rapidly. Now I only need to go inside Kedge Keep for the last part of the bones. I am not looking forward to that one, I died several times last I did that.
I'm going to try and wrap up my Soulfire next weekend. I only need to kill Lucan D'Lere and Xicotl (the SK in Castle Mistmoore) and raise my faction a bit with the knights of truth and the marr faction. Worries for next weekend I suppose, especially Lucan doesn't seem to be as easy anymore as it used to be before the revamp of Freeport.
