#1 Aug 20 2008 at 11:36 AM Rating: Default
well yeah
long story short i was looking for a partner or few to play with me but i dont want to sit in bazaar or junk and twink.
im looking for just some people to group with every night a few hours and have fun with. maybe come up with a combo such as paly/sk or sham/monk or beast/mage
im not looking for end game, but just maybe up to 60 for fun.
only equipment we get ourselves :)
i dont care which server
anyone interested?

Sounds like something I might be interested in. I've always wanted to play a Bard. If we can get a group together only 2 or 3 nights a week that would be cool to. Time zone -7 GMT. I could logon around 8pm and would be good for 2 - 3 hrs. I don't have a preference on server.

Side thought: If I do have some left over coin from battles I'd like to buy an upgrade in the baz. Does that fit in the scope of what your looking for?

LOL, I remember a time when this was the only way to do things.

Fun idea, wish you were on Stromm. I have a 55 Monk I've been using only with some friends here but they don't play often enough for me, and we're all twinked to high-hell, lol.

stupid me.. havent played in a long time, its as easy as making a guild called
0ld sch00l
and yeah like i kinda think if i go to the bazaar ill just end up sitting there and looking for hours. i want to re-experience the game new, if there is a server choice, make a suggestion, im kinda hoping for e'ci but well open for more suggestions.
if anyone knows of a good full server, so odds are more people might join in.
again only rules are no buying items from people and no going past Scars of velious.
i will be very happy to share every piece of loot with anyone in guild since platinum wont be used for selling or buying items, but rather for spells and food.
i will probably start this guild on saturday, anyone have any other ideas? such as should we all pick the same race so we start in the same area?
or just start in quenos/halas as you can pretty much be any class?

We have a classic guild going on The Combine server, and are up to Velious now (we started with original only, then Kunark, then Velious, opening another only after we completed the toughest things in each era). We don't plan on going past Velious. We do not allow any items, spells, or zones that did not exist during the era we currently allow. Also, no AA's that are beneficial to the player (we allow people to turn on AA's and spend them in useless things, so they can keep themselves from going above 60).

So far, we have killed Derakor the Vindicator and have gotten a couple peoples of ToV gear in Velious. Our guild is The Forgotten Travelers, and our website is: www.theforgottentravelers.com

It's a lot of fun. I hope you guys give it a try.

Alright...

If you start on Eci/Tunare, I want in on this. I mean, I'm just now getting back into the game, I might as well start with a good group from day 1.

What characters will you play or need? I like them all. I have played a Mage to 55 and still have him and he is still not wearing anything other than some stuff from Hate...Apothic I think it is called...a couple of things from SoV...ornate runed shield maybe.

Anyway, I will play anything we need....cleric, enchanter, mage, monk...whatever.

Great Idea!!!! Now maybe I want feel so odd being the only one not twinked and/or power leveled.

Your the man Vumbar...unless you are a woman and in that case "Your the Woman Vumbar" LOL

" We do not allow any items, spells, or zones that did not exist during the era we currently allow. Also, no AA's that are beneficial to the player "

Does that mean that your guild members are not allowed into the guild lobby or hall, or POK and that if they are found there they are deguilded?

what aa's do you consider not beneficial? Just general or just stat increases or do you not allow your guild members to spend their points so that in that case they just get destroyed above 30?

And so if you are fighting a lion in east karana or a gnoll in south karana and you loot a rough or crude defiant robe or breastplate you do what? just destroy it on the spot or bank it until your guild decides to allow ppl to wear it? This sounds really really weird and sort of communist mentality.

" Great Idea!!!! Now maybe I want feel so odd being the only one not twinked and/or power leveled. "

A twink is a character who is 'sponsored' by another much higher level and richer character, or else a player that bought pp on ebay in order to equip his lower level toon without doing anything to earn it. The 'twink' is usually correspondingly less skilled of a player, but not always. A twink is always low level. You cant be a twink if you are like 75 or something. If you are lvl 75 then you are just a dude, either undergeared or well geared or something in the middle.

I would say that you are not twinked if you loot the stuff yourself. If you happen across a Flawed defiant breastplate and cant use it because of your class and decide to sell it for 25k in bazaar; then turn and spend that same money on a variety of caster gear; then you are NOT a twink. You are your own person wearing stuff you earned yourself with your own time. Same thing applies if you get a duplicate of something you already have like a second pair of intricate defiant chain boots or something.

You dont have to sit there in a zone and destroy every piece of loot that you cant wear, only to keep the ones for your class and your open slots. Just sell the pieces you earn or trade them for something you can wear. Same thing for any rare tradeskill components that ppl always need/want. You earned it, you do what you want the the plat you got. If you want some new earrings instead of boots go for it. This is not twinking.

You are just being silly if you turn down everything you see just because you cant equip it. Just always be sure to be fair and /roll and take turns with loot, etc.

I am glad that noone uses that lousy NBG loot strategy any more. There were so many players that took a huge majority of the loot simply because they 'needed' it more than others. This always penalized the better players who put in more time to upgrade their equipment and skills. These better players would always have one or two slots needing an upgrade and the fair weather player would show up and 'need' the loot more and grab it. Many times that 'need' was just the same player turning around and selling the item for some rings or earrings he coveted. Hence that particular slot was still a 'need' for future loot whoring.

They would be warned the first time.

"what aa's do you consider not beneficial? Just general or just stat increases or do you not allow your guild members to spend their points so that in that case they just get destroyed above 30?"

By not beneficial, we mean Int casters spending AAs points in Innate Wis.

"And so if you are fighting a lion in east karana or a gnoll in south karana and you loot a rough or crude defiant robe or breastplate you do what? just destroy it on the spot or bank it until your guild decides to allow ppl to wear it? Defiant is overpowered for what we are doing, and so is hotzone/revamped loot. We are raiding 'classic' encounters. What is the point of raiding them with insane gear for the era, and never needing any loot off them before of that? We feel it defeats the purpose of we are doing, and do not allow it. Vindi was quite a challenge to do with a classic geared tank (Planar armor and epics), and the bp was quite an upgrade for him.

As for the destroying of Defiant armor, you can keep it and put it on some char that isn't in the guild, or sell it and buy gear for a char that isn't it the guild. We don't care what you do with this stuff, as long as it does not affect your guilded character in any way, which means no selling it and using the play on the character.

Sure, these strict rules aren't for everyone, but we enjoy them. There's two other similar guilds on The Combine, with less strict rules: Lords of the Combine and Dawn of Marr (you can search for them on guildportal). They allow hotzone/revamped loot and AAs. Lords of the Combine allow basic AAs, like resists and such, while Dawn of Marr allow all level 60 AAs, along with PoK/Bazaar/Guild Lobby. They are progression and will go past Velious eventually.

Basically, there's a progression/classic guild for everyone. The three guilds on The Combine are in Kunark/Velious, while that guild on the Test server (Unintended Consequences) is in PoP. Just pick whichever one sounds best for you, and I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun.

You pay for the game, why not see it all? What you do is like renting a movie and turning it off after 45 minutes because 'that's how it used to be'. It's not like visiting Crescent Reach will taint you and forever brand you as an evil cheater.

I have seen enough of the game, and wish to go back to the beginning. Guilds like mine are for people who just got tired of all the expansions, or for people who just wanted to progress through the expansions in the order they came out. If you want to do something the guild doesn't allow, then go for it, if that's what you enjoy, but you will be asked to leave the guild. Classic/progression guilds aren't for everyone.

Or why not play it as you like?

Or like watching the first, action-packed exciting part of a movie then turning it off in the second half when it gets stupid and you no longer enjoy it.

I can't imagine anyone making that argument.

I'm not part of the guild but I can understand the allure. But I have scant enough playing time as it is without spending countless nights killing giant bats and rat snakes in QHills again.

So then if you need 3 more black marbles to complete a skyshrine armor piece then you are required to sit in East Commonlands and /ooc for them instead of just logging in a diff non-guilded player and pick them up in bazaar? Using shared bank slots to transfer them to your toon. This obviously the case of not looting them yourself in Sirens Grotto I mean.

And I dont quite understand how you can allow someone to loot the Spiked Seahorse belt in Sirens Grotto and then tell them that they cannot sell it in bazaar for 20k. Do they have to spam zone channels or /newplayer or /general or something instead or are channels also banned in your guild since they were not enabled in Velious.

What about fast regen? do you require that no one in your guild ever sit down and no one be on a horse so that no one gets fast regen? That wasnt around prior to TSS.

PLUS, your example of having an INT caster bank aa into Innate Wis doesnt wash either, All tradeskill checks are against your highest of Int/Wis and if someone has somehow a reverse pool that is higher then it willbe checked instead for all tradeskill combines.

So the same rule would apply to all the holiday events also I suppose. No one is allowed to get Santug's stocking. No one is allowed to get the fishing bait pail. No one is allowed to get skeleton illusion. No one is allowed to participate in gm or guide sponsored zone events etc. (Like the one recently in Butcherblock mtns.)

I thought that the idea of a progression guild is CONTENT. If it is instead vast prohibitions against normal conduct then the guild is kind of weird. Never sitting down is just odd.

You farm the marbles with yourself or with guildies, since everyone is trying to get gems anyway.

You can sell any non-classic stuff in The Bazaar on another character, but you just can't use that money to benefit your non-classic character.

No one would ever tell you that you can't sit down because of rest mode. That is just one of those unavoidable things.

No int caster would ever have more wis than int, so that was kind of a pointless thing to mention.

Wouldn't be allowed to go to PoK or any non-classic zone. Some GM event items would probably be allowed, depending on their quality when compared with Velious items.

This is just OUR guild rules. We enjoy doing the things together, instead of just buying things from The Bazaar and trying to take the quicker routes. If you don't like our rules, then there are plenty of other guilds out there.
