Being out of the game for some time, I've apparently missed a few tiers of bufflicious goodness. Used to be that Virtue was king with Conviction coming in just as I was going out. KEI was still prefered over the higher level Voice of Quellious due to KEI's duration. These days, the OOC offers for buffs may as well be in Sanskrit. "Whatchamagigger Mk III" and crap like that which sounds more like a concept surface-to-air missile than a buff. I usually just say "Hey, I'm a lvl 65 SK -- hit me with what's good". They could cast Courage on me and I wouldn't know to argue.

As a rough guide, what's the tiers for buffs these days?

Temerity Rk. III is the end all, be all of the cleric HP buffs, for now. I've only seen it once, from a cleric in my server's number one guild. Nearly 3000 hp buff and with max extensions lasts 255 minutes.
#4 Jun 26 2008 at 9:36 AM Rating: Decent
Teme Rk II is very common and almost always being cast by somoene in the guild lobby.

Joph - you seem to be enjoying your time in EQ. Are you planning on staying or are you out when the freebie time stops?

I pose the above question to anyone who is playing on the Living Legacy time.

I believe that 61 is the magic level where any buff will stick on you, it may be 62, I'm not positive. Either way, at 65 anything will stick to you.

Temerity is the highest cleric hitpoint buff, if you can't find any teme then Tenacity is the next lowest and is also a significant boost to hp.

I think many still prefer KEI simply because of the duration (I normally do, I find that with ooc regen kei is usually sufficient for me). The highest chanter mana regen spell is the cognizance line (Seer's Cognizance is single and Voice of Cognizance is the group version) which is 28 per tic I think. So it's twice as much mana regen as kei, but I think it only lasts for 1 1/2 hrs.

Talisman of the Bloodworg is, I think, the best in the Wunshi line. Gives about 1k hitpoints and increases strength and dex by over 100, also increase the caps for those, that's a nice spell to get.

Highest Brell's is Brell's Earthen Aegis = ~600 hp I think?

Highest ranger attack is Gnarl of the Predator.

Those are all the ones I can think of atm. I sometimes leave my toon parked in the Lobby for an hour or so before playing, usually I'll catch a bunch of MGBs and be fully buffed by the time I'm ready to hunt. That's on Stromm, where there are always tons of people hanging out in the lobby, and a lot of people casting mgb's. Not sure if the lobby scene is the same on other servers.

Hard to say. I've been enjoying myself well enough but I've really just been soloing. On one hand, it's hard to justify not hitting the hotzones since that's where the xp is but on the other hand Nadox was packed with characters level 60-68(!) last night -- 38 of 'em -- and so I assume BoT is packed with the lvl 68-75s or whatever. As such, I've been soloing Skyshrine and have to do Elite Drakes now to make it worth it. At some point, whacking little dragons with an axe is bound to get old.

Any newer zone suggestions for a solo lvl 65 SK (approx 60AA) with middling gear? I'm swinging a Eldanddor's Avenger which is good times although the rest of my gear is largely Flawed Defiant (the rec lvl 50 stuff) and assorted bits pre-Legacy. I get about 8k hp with decent cleric buffs, not sure about AC.

I'm not up for pick-up grouping yet especially with the notion of being the tank.

Another route to go, if you have the free buff slots is to get the Druid HP buff "Ironwood Skin" plus the cleric Symbol/AC combo, "Symbol of Kaerra + Ward of the Resolute." This will give you a few more HPs, and AC than just Tems alone, plus the added bene of mana regen.

For zones to hit at level 65, I think Riwwi is the hotzone between Nadox and BoT. Maybe Blackfeather Roost in TSS. For undead there's always Veksar or Chardok B. There are also some undead in the Buried Sea zone of Barren Coast. I'm not sure if it's easy for an SK to solo there at 65 but there are mobs in the right level range there.

For buffs, like they said Temerity (Teme), Bloodword (Worg) and Brell's Earthen Aegis (BEA) are the current best hp buffs available to anyone level 61 or higher. If I am looking for buffs I am not that picky though. I will OOC for Convic and Wunshi or better, which could be Conviction or Tenacity or Temerity and Wunshi or Dire or Bloodworg. KEI is still the longest lasting mana regen buff but depending on how much casting you do you may want to try the new higher level chanter buffs.

Comparable Cleric Ward(AC) and Symbol buff(HP), along with druid skin buff(AC/HP/regen), will give you more hp/ac than temerity along with some additional regen.

Myself and the clerics would always use that set up for raids. It uses 3 buff slots however, so most melee types will just go with temerity.

Joph, if you've not yet been familiarized with the ranked spells, basically rank 1 is purchased from a vendor/merchant npc, rank II of the same spell will drop from a mob, usually an appropriate level but kinda hard trash mob (ie giants versus just kobolds), rank III spells drop from raid bosses and are therefore pretty rare. These are all droppable though, so you can find them for sale.

Each rank increases the spells efficiency by around 5% I believe.

You're thinking paladins. My Shadowknight has one level appropriate undead nuke for 900pts or so but that's it in my ******* against the walking deceased.

I don't know why I always capitalize Shadowknight but not any other classes.

I would steer you towards Blackfeather Roost as well. You'll get decent enough AA XP off the first area (its keyed islands unlocked by relatively simple quests the first few stages). Once you are keyed to go up an area or two you'll have lots of challenging options. Some of the mobs hit kind of hard so you may have to employ some kiting tactics at times.

As an extra bonus there are some decent drops off common mobs here. Some of the mobs do weird things... some harpies have a stun that knocks you down so you have to hit "stand up" (otherwise you stop attacking and die pathetically).

Old Sebilis might be fun as well. My necro was getting slow aa xp there while grinding faction at 65.

If a 65 Sk can kite efficiently (never played one near that high) the murkgliders at the Dranik's Scar zoneline in Noble's Causeway could be good as well. I don't think they are melee soloable for many at 65 though. Plane of Valor fiends would be the same concept --they are DB cons until 68 if I recall correct.

Riwi is tough, I took winjon at 61 and the druid. By the end of the first kill, druid was 50 manna from chain healing and the dots she was able to cast.
Bot may not be so crowded, there is a steady group of folks from Lucky Insane who work it, nobles causeway, and ruins of ilsulin. Join luckyfriends:povar for the chat channel. Courtin/Jonwinnie and jonwin are working wos, nc and the first two can slip into Bot to group as well.

BoT is usually fairly crowded on my server these days, but at least the towers are not key-restricted anymore so there're more camps readily available. Nadox is hit and miss and I usually take my 65 paladin to Hate's Fury zoneline which is often not camped. Riwwi is something of an undercon zone only because the mobs have that annoying "dark claws" proc that can be a killer if it goes off several times back to back.

Grouping in WoS is still decent regular xp at 65 even though it's not a hotzone right now. I don't know how well SK kite at 65 but that would probably be your only way to solo Noble's Causeway murkgliders, but there are several decent loot drops and quest drops available in NC. One Aiden Silverwing quest drop and Cracked Gem of Lucidity come to mind.

Go to BoT, it's the 65 hot zone and it's fine for that level. I don't understand why anybody 70+ is even setting foot in BoT though. I went there the other night at 72 and the exp was sloooooow, if you're 70+ go to Ruins of Illsalin, they call it the 70 hot zone for a reason. When I group there the exp just flies by.

My sk alt is also 65 and seems to have similar gear excepting a few bits of elaborate defiant plate and swinging the Orrel club from Loping Plains.
Fully buffed he's at 9k hp and maybe 1600+ ac.
Right now he's entrenched in Barren Coast killing gators, crows and snakes for about 8% AA a kill and they die very fast.
I like Barren Coast because it's 2 zones from PoK making for quick travel, has merchants and quest givers, and with the higher level mobs like pirates, Kerrans and undead, will be good xp for another level or 2.... and the seaside atmosphere is cool.
Mobs are light blue sure, but the dark blue cons like the gorillas or Kerrans just hit too hard and have too much hp for me to solo.
There's also tasks you can get for killing which give about 8% AA each, not much but I'm killing the mobs anyway.
Making enough plat from vendor drops to more than pay for any potions plus a few intricate defiant drops for the trader.

Not that I'm encouraging everyone to swarm my alt's favourite spot, mind you.

I haven't been to Barren Coast or any of the content post DoDH. I'll have to noodle out how to get there and try it out.

I had a pretty good time fighting the Elite drakes in Skyshrine except splitting them is a real pain. It just occurred to me that I really need to get the AA's for the Pet Hold ability so I can feign split stuff without losing my pet once I get tagged and can't spam back off quick enough.

I do have a couple Elaborate pieces from the Legacy promotion (BP, helm and bracer) but the other slots are Flawed or else assorted other things (magnetic legs, etc).

I'd check out Blackfeather Roost as Snailish suggested. The monsters will probably be green/lb, but still better xp and lootz than older zones. The quests to get to progressively higher platforms are kinda fun.

I was disappointed that the griffin didn't actually fly me up to the next platform (the nest is just an insta-port), but I still enjoyed the zone.

The Stone Hive is another fun TSS zone that would probably be solo-able for you.

Blackfeather greened out before 65 on my sk but I did do the tasks to get to the 3rd level and xp was very good at the time.
Barren Coast can be reached via Toxx forest (Paineel or Erudin stones in pok) and the zone in is a cave mouth on the east wall not far from the Nexus portal.

What surprised me last week was to see 2 people zone in to actually hunt something, the pet focus from Maybelle, so I logged the ranger and killed it for them and wouldn't you know it, she had the drop /woot
