SOE's BSFollow

#1 Jun 17 2008 at 10:28 AM Rating: Sub-Default
This week, after SOE decided to once again lavish gifts onto the players that have left the game, I have lost 2 players that were high play time raiders.
They left because they feel that SOE doesnt respect the loyal fanbase and would rather see peeps that will flash in the pan for 8 weeks of free gaming rather than stick with the game and pay.
I am now, sadly, looking forward to a server merge since the well is drying up here on erollisi marr. Hard to find the classes we need to function or we have to ask peeps to go above and beyond to make us a success.
I hope the peeps at SOE read this and know they are losing more of their loyal fanbase the more and more they try to get back the peeps that turned their back on this game.

Have you really asked yourself 'what has changed' in the game play of these two people that left, with the unveiling of the Legacy Promotion?

They were given a few more raiding options and perhaps scored on some new armor drops in various mid-level zones. How does that adversely impact them...at all?

I'm betting that SOE will see more people re-subscribe from this promotion than they will see lost subscriptions from people who can't get over themselves. This will only make for a healthier gaming community.

#6REDACTED, Posted: Jun 17 2008 at 12:28 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You all honestly think that a few trinkets and 8 weeks of free game play will bring that many recurring accts back. Or will it bring them back till the next shiney pops on the horizon.

Do you honestly think it's a reason to leave?

I believe that on top of bugs with events, quests, spells, zones, aa's on top of giving nothing to the loyal masses for sticking with them, that yes it is driving peeps away, more than just the two solid peeps I lost. I do believe that their promotion will bring people back for as long as it lasts, but I believe the majority of those will leave yet again.

Canddy, it's people like you that made, SWG the cluster fUck it is now, thankfully SoE learned the lesson and stopped listening to dweebs like you and made the game better for the silent majority not the stupid loud minority.

The majority do for any promotion. What they hope for is a significant minority.

The promotion costs SOE nothing since all they're "giving" is virtual property and some server time on servers which are underpopulated anyway. In return, they hope to reclaim whatever percentage of lost customers who re-try the game. Even if it's 5%, it's still a net gain for SOE.

Playing tonight, it occured to me that there is a pretty dumb aspect to the Legacy promotion. The lvl 40-65, and arguably lvl 70 hotzones are all old content. As in pre Serpent's Spine. It occured to me that I haven't set foot into a zone more recent than PoP since I restarted because there hasn't been any real incentive to go exploring the new content.
