Where did the Class Forums Go?Follow

I was entertaining the idea of coming back, and was hoping to read the forums in order to inspire a new Class choice. What happened to the Class Forums!?

They still exist, but were buried for some reason. You can still find them by choosing the 'classes' under Wikibase and clicking through about seven pages. Remember to add each forum to 'favorites' so you don't have to do it again.

I think the real reason they got buried was that we're supposed to use Wiki instead, but the wonders of that methodology still escapes this lone ranger ;-)

That is the direct link.

The "plan" at one point was for a Wiki version to replace the class fourms. IMHO it didnt work well at all and little or no info was put on the wiki pages. Frankly the Wiki version should be scrapped compleatly and go back to the old style.

Maybe a combination of the two could work:

The zone pages are the example I would follow. You go into Befallen and it gives you the little general blurb. Underneath is the 3 main links a person might want: items, quests and mobs found in the zone.

So for classes it would be nice to see the compressed wiki header at the top of the old class forums, right under the 1-paragraph basic description. If you want the FAQ kind of stuff that should end up in the wiki you open up the wiki tree (this allows the under development status to not detract from the concept). At the same time, the current posts stay on the front page in an easy to find location from the main page.

The old class forums weren't hugely trafficked or posted on in recent times it seemed, but many of the old threads were pretty solid. Moving all the good stuff to Wiki is a huge job (so my guess as to why that hasn't happened).

The wiki work on focus effects (for example) was very nicely done up to level 65 and a vast improvement over past ways of seeking this information in my opinion.

I had asked for the original link to be replaced under the "Forums" heading on the left side of the page in THIS THREAD, but I guess they haven't gotten around to it.

Personally, I see the "Skills" forum as completely useless. I mean, 95% of those forums are empty anyway, whereas the "Class Forums" were actually used, and quite often too. I used to frequent the Ranger forum as often as I checked the main forum, and I would use the other class threads to learn more about a particular class. These kinds of topics get cycled out rather quickly in the main forum, and get answered with generic answers from people who don't really know that class.

It would be much more helpful to newer and returning players for them to have that link returned so it streamlines their browsing experience. They need to be able to find the information, and even some returning players who were active in the main and class forums can't even find them, even though they're still there.

Here's a hypothetical question:
If the information can't be found, does it really exist?

Please, please, please

Please return the "Class" link under the "Forums" heading. It should have never been removed.

Thanks, found them.

I'm really glad that they're still around, and I agree that they should be made more accessible. Some of the older threads are obviously outdated, but there's a core of information in those class threads that's just irreplaceable.

Here is the link to the first post after the forums had been moved. Railus stated:

Maybe the link on the wiki page can be made more prominent so it's easily catchable. I think, however, we are better served by having the wiki link on the template versus the class forums.

Seems as if the links have not been made more prominent...
