What's All This Then??Follow
I don't recall names otherwise I'd just look it up (and I'm at work away from my account) but I'm a Legacy player and notice that I've been looting a load of silks, ore & hides in all zones. What're those for? Presumably some tradeskill or another but they seem to drop like rain, cluttering my inventory.

All of them along with Defiant Gear are global drops they drop from any mob of the correct level with a few exception for highest level smithing and tailoring items. Those only drop from certain zones and from others as a rare 2% chance of item dropping being the next level of item instead of normal drop.

The items you mention are the new cultural armor drops that went in last fall. There is a good summary chart showing what to make with each drop here.
