I want to start multi-boxing EQ accounts. Does anyone know the minimum computer requirements to do so? I am currently running Windows XP, 2.0 processor speed, a GeForce 7300 w/512 memory, and 1.5G of RAM. Will this work?
Also, what are some good strategies for multi-boxing? Is it even worth it?

Your Specs should ge good enough for most zones. The GL packed full of AFK toon will lag you out a bit. Older zones should work well I think you may get a little lag in the newer onew tho.
I reccomend wineq to move in between eq sessions. There are other that prefer to alt tab in between session but that doesent work well for me.
Is it worth it? I have mixed feelings. I prefer to group but thats not allways a option for what I want to do at a given time. I like to find a empty zone and grind away in peace.
I dont like to box in groups as I am taking a spot another palyer could use.

With 1.5 Gig of memory you should be able to comfortably two box. The big thing to remember is you may have to reduce some of the graphics and drop your clip plane a touch to help reduce the memory requirements for each window.
I used to 3 box on a gig of Ram but now I am running almost 3 Gigs and I can pretty much load anything else I need to have loaded in the background.
Sometimes the advantage to boxing is really just having an additional toon for utility purposes.
Hey I even group while 3 boxing. Especially if I get an additional tank/puller, it can turn into a non-stop, key mashing, what can you really pull off, adrenaline rush of pulls/heals/kills. Other times I just help as many passers by as feel I can helpful and then they move on while I sit and kill in my little camp.

you have a better gfx card than i do on my pc, but a similar processor and the same amount of RAM. i duel box ok with my setup tho it can get pretty laggy sometimes and the /follow command does not work for me at all. i tend to play in windowed mode to make it easier swapping between the two accounts.
i box with a lesser card and 1g ram so you should be good. just tone down the settings on the 2nd account, turn off the journal and log.

Just to clarify, you seem to be wanting to try 2 eq accounts on one machine. This is not two boxing. Two boxing or 3 boxing is using more than one machine. Using one machine and multi accounts has often been called boting (for roboting).
I both two box, when elne's machine is close to mine, and bot 2 accounts on one machine. (Have been doing the latter since I got more memory.) Do we need a newer terms?

I thought "botting" was a bad thing in EQ? I often hear of people using a "forage bot" and getting banned, rolled back, etc...

I dont know what Forage botting is, but no, botting isnt bad. Botting is simply running more than one account at the same time, as is explained above. Botting in that fashion is not against the EULA. I had a RL friend who actually had 6 accounts going at the same time, although he was using 2 desktops, and 1 laptop to do it. When you saw an entire group go LD during a raid, you knew without looking at the names who it was.
2 boxing is the term that was given to playing 2 accounts at the same time, when the term was originally coined it wasent possible (for most people) to play 2 accounts on one comp due to the limited technology at the time.
the term "botting" is where you play more than one account at the same time, with one account being the "main account" and the others being "bots" whether they are on one comp or more than one comp both terms are relevant.

A few years back, maybe on the UBB boards(?), there was a discussion that trying to play two accounts at the same time was a bad thing. I think this was due to lower speeds and the amount of lag the early game could have. In that case botting was something some folks tried to do without bringing too much attention to it. Today I just let folks know I'm working two accounts if they invite me to a group. Or I will log the auxiliary account.
As sickseventy says, most folks today don't differentiate, and most folks seem to use the term 2box. I was mostly padding my post account and also bringing back an older term. (Maybe I was having a Gbaji moment. )
